Beginning with my faith journey, I examine the difficulties inherent in the conservative soteriologies of the Christian faith.  I then walk through my experiences with a more universalist Christology, and my struggles with pluralism.  I then examine my feelings in light of a class of twenty-one students from my church--Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church--who are interested in examining Alan Race's typology--exclusivism, inclusivism and pluralism. This project afforded me a unique opportunity to examine FBC/SAM's process of getting things done, its context, ecology, theology, culture, resources, authority, and history, all of which forms the fabric for studying congregations. Providing both theological and contextual support for the project, the author describes the educational objectives that he developed for the project participants and for himself. Detailing the four seminar sessions, the four sermons, and the hospitality practicum, the author then describes the results of the project. Participants' knowledge of hospitality increased. The strategy utilized a qualitive research method and included revisions to the new member class and the recruiting and training of shepherd's partners, who helped new members through the initial phase of assimilation in the following areas: completion of the new member class, development of relationships, engagement in ministry opportunities, and receiving information that fosters their spiritual growth. For consistent improvement to occur, there must be a plan for evaluation.  In many areas of life it is possible to take personal inventory and evaluate oneself.  Why not practice the same discipline in preaching?  Improvement implies a standard.  The author has concluded that the standard of preaching is made up of three essential elements.  These elements are the content of the sermon, its ability to connect with the listeners, and spiritual life.  A good sermon must proclaim the truth of Scripture, be relevant to those who hear it, and become a supernatural event.  The author then questioned a group of pastors concerning their efforts for improvement.  Fourteen of these pastors volunteered to participate in a six-week project for improvement through self-analysis.  Only three of the volunteers actually participated. The author explains and analyszes the results of the survey and the experiences of those who did the personal review. Thus while the Igbo naming ceremony makes one an Igbo, the rite of baptism makes one a Christian.  The author analyzed the Anglican rite of baptismal ritual as it is contained in The Book of Common Prayer in the light of Turner's theory of rituals.  He used missional theology as a lens to examine the rite of baptism in the Igbo context of eastern Nigeria. If you are a youth pastor, this equipping certainly involves recruiting volunteer leaders.  The goal of this project was to train three youth pastors in recruiting volunteer youth leaders using a four-phase strategy involving prayer, effective leadership team, worship service vision casting, and personal contacting. Dedicated missionary training communities utilize informal education to achieve these desired outcomes.  This project identified the predominant character qualities and attitudes found in various bodies of literature on missionary competency profiling.  Further, it demonstrates that informal and nonformal education are the most suitable methods for effective character and attitude formation in pre-field missionaries.  A correlation was presented based on the New Testament writings, demonstrating that Jesus Christ targeted character qualities and attitudes, and addressed these by using informal educational methods, and established an intentional community as the basis of addressing these training needs. Small groups can play an essential role in this transformation process.  The basis of this project was a one-day workshop for small group leaders.  The workshop content included biblical descriptions of transformation and biblical relational processes suitable to foster spiritual transformation in small groups' members.  The role of small group dynamics as described by social scientists was also presented.
