Consumerism is analyzed through its history and through its present key features, including the loss of certainty, individualism, choice, consumption, and commodification. By looking at individualism, branding and shopping, identity in a consumeristic world is examined. The answer lies in the adoption of practices, as defined by Alistair McIntyre. Hospitality, which is given as a model of practice, is examined starting from its biblical roots up to current proposals. Since the post-modern culture is image-driven, media is the language of culture."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130900649476096,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:38:57.271Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:03:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:40:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5dc55dfe-947c-46ed-a8b1-772782ec9cf4","accessControl_ssim":["b2e1df46-8c4a-4acb-b564-c3a743766723"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The next generation of influence: the responses of millennial evangelicals to messages of gender equality"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:03:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:53:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9c394a2d-3aaf-4b46-89ec-af566d09289a"],"hasLease_ssim":["9866eef6-84ba-48f9-b8e0-4333cb45fc5b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Alice P Mathews"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jamie Kathleen Noling"],"keyword_tesim":["Religious surveys"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Sex role","Evangelicalism--Women","Millennialism","Equality"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This research deals with both the source and content of the messages millennial evangelicals have received about gender. In order to gain data about respondents' doctrines of gender equality, survey research and analysis were utilized to assess different aspects of gender foundations: gender roles, ideology identification, and leadership practices in the church. The research yielded a sample of 195 millennial evangelicals between the ages of 18-25. These statistics identify that there is an emerging reality in evangelical culture: a disparity between the teaching of the church and the theological convictions of young adults. Young evangelicals express interest in understanding biblical manhood and biblical womanhood. They are reading books, listening to sermons, and engaging in conversations with peers and mentors about these topics. Within this sample, millennials were coming to conclusions that women are equally gifted with men. Millennial evangelicals illustrate endorsement of moderate to full participation of women in church leadership and shared decision-making and mutual submission in the home."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131003988738048,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:40:35.823Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:03:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:53:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9b3f8ddb-48a5-407f-be88-cbf5c9992e80","accessControl_ssim":["ce45bbcb-ebe2-48cb-a8fa-a0a556d68f5e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Lord, please protect the children: a biblical perspective on the prevention, identification, and healing of child abuse \u0026 neglect"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:03:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:40:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b5db5677-5625-4185-9d76-4238c4be4d19"],"hasLease_ssim":["361ab28e-aea5-432c-bed8-7b249fad46d9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Garth M Rosell"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Garry C James"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Child abuse","Church work with abuse victims"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["Lord, please protect the children: a biblical perspective on the prevention, identification, and healing of child abuse and neglect"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis is a biblical study of the criminal acts committed against children for centuries known as child abuse and neglect. This examination affirms biblical teaching which simultaneously endorses cultural particularity while affirming the universality of humanity under God. This universality is based on creation, God's redemptive plan for all nations, Jesus' death on the cross, the establishment of the church, and the eschatological vision of the multi-cultural assembly in Revelation 5:9 and 7:9. Implementing this unity-in-diversity includes identifying sinful tendencies to find our identity at the expense of others, caring for the 'outsiders,' participating in God's redemptive plan, working towards reconciliation, and taking initiative to live out the 'new humanity' described in Ephesians 2:11-22."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132134677676032,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:58:34.132Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":425,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
