He then argues that the congregation's entering into a long-term strategic partnership with local African-American congregations was a practical response consistent with the theology. This study was undertaken as an exercise in practical theology, and a 'mutual critical conversation' model was employed.  The initial stage of the conversation was a historical, biblical, and theological investigation of the Sabbath.  The second stage of the conversation related the thematic elements of the Sabbath to leadership principles. If a church-based women's Bible study program aims to grow strategically, numerically and in biblical depth, it must consider the best way to solve this problem. This thesis-project argues that the alternative to training successful lecturers is to turn to video lecturers who cannot as effectively shepherd the flock, be as accessible as role-models of Christ-like character nor be available to answer questions, both of a biblical and personal nature.
