This approach addressed the different developmental and spiritual needs of church members over fifty-five, including the dynamics of the three generations that comprise that age block.  The director led a six member team through a four-part teaching series.  Based on the information gained in class the team planned two sample ministry events focused on two age groups. He used three shame reduction techniques -- psychoeducation, self-affirmation, and affirmation by others -- during a twelve-week study of 9 males participating in a church-based, Christ-centered Twelve-Step program.  The Internalized Shame Scale measured a statistically significant reduction of shame levels, but the Test of Self-Conscious Affect-3 did not.  The Sexuality Survey did not measure a statistically significant reduction in the incidence of sexually addictive behavior. This project brought together sixteen individuals in ten weekly sessions of training in and practicing of lectio divina. Although lectio divina worked as expected, the discovery of the overwhelming need among this group for community proved to be an unexpected asset in the quest for renewed spiritual vitality. This manual provided instructions on spiritual formation emphasizing its value in sustaining ministers and their respective ministries.  Thirteen senior pastors and staff ministers from the PNBC and other African American churches evaluated the manual and judged it to be necessary, useful and biblically sound. Four disciplines informed the model: neurobiology, physiology, psychosocial, and spiritual faith formation.  The model (FPC) was evaluated by an expert panel comprised of two groups: licensed clinicians with training in FP and those with no FP training.  The panel agreed that FPC was developmentally sound. Increasingly, bishops have assigned priest as pastors to multiple parishes. This project studied the current shift in pastoral care given and pastoral care received that affects the ministers and their faith communities. The project engaged these pastors from the Diocese of Madison in a reflective consultation process on the phenomenon of pastoring multiple parishes using theological reflection. The model evolved from the real life situation of the Savannah Grove Baptist Church of Effingham, South Carolina. It shows how a congregation diseased with the virus of chaos, conflict and controversy over many years moved to become a semblance of spiritual resourcefulness, a center of health where congregants demonstrate maturity and contribute to healing and wholeness. The project shows that this happened via a Christ-centered model wherein the total congregation became involved in the leadership of the church.
