The researcher of this applied research project seeks to identity stimuli that motivate a leader to choose God's will in place of one's own will. Specifically, this research sought to confirm the hypothesis that the essential principles of visual communication--rhythm, contrast, balance, proportion and unity--are applicable to verbal communication as well. The research first surveys relevant literature in fields of visual and verbal communication and then noted the principles within the biblical text. From this review, an evaluation instrument was designed. Then, three preachers were selected and their sermons transcribed and evaluated according to a validation grid. The results confirmed that effective preachers employ rhythm, contrast, balance, proportion and unity in their sermons."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130522051674112,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:32:56.212Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:12:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:57:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5bff2c49-63f6-454b-9bce-d4b469b05887","accessControl_ssim":["dd5f0777-a5a3-4fec-9983-43c2bda3a862"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The church's ministry with midlife adults: the implications of identifying diverse spiritual needs"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:12:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:50:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6b395d05-4402-4b93-a249-cf47bc2a06ec"],"hasLease_ssim":["26644e02-1555-4788-9cb4-ec4531f7cc76"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Rodger Nishioka"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Brynda Michelle McClendon"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work","Middle-aged persons"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Adults in the challenging midlife years develop diverse spiritual needs that affect church participation. This project focuses on what churches can do to address more effectively these needs and thereby provide important support and encourage church involvement and satisfaction. The project examines the information gleaned from extensive interviews conducted with seventeen midlife individuals from the same congregation. The interview responses cover four areas: 1) midlife experience, 2) spiritual needs, 3) diversity, and 4) church involvement and satisfaction. From the responses, five specific spiritual needs are identified. Eight strategies are recommended that churches can employ to better meet these needs."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128323696361472,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:57:59.697Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:12:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:32:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7db206e5-efbe-4477-96cb-34ef784c939c","accessControl_ssim":["5d1a913f-a3d6-47da-a471-ccdad3fe0108"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Case studies of key factors in the launch of viable multi-site churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:12:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:50:40Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["38ed326c-4aeb-43af-8ac2-8c5a8d8b596c"],"hasLease_ssim":["ce816740-967b-48d7-8645-fa8c097821fe"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John W Reed"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kings H Lee"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Multi-site churches","Church development, New"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The hypothesis of this paper is that there are eight key factors to determine and secure in order to launch a viable multi-site church. Nine churches that have successfully launched multi-sites were selected as field participants.
