Yet, most Christian workers still use literate methods even when working in oral contexts. This research focuses on biblical storytelling among oral learners. The primary research strategy was the multiplication of storytellers through intentional training and the collection of verbatim reports of their field experiences. Storytelling was found to be superior for knowledge transfer and for bypassing resistance to the gospel, and consequently more than 200 new congregations were planted. This thesis presents clear evidence of the effectiveness of biblical storytelling among oral learners."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128477344202752,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:00:26.227Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:35:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:18:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c52fd920-d141-4e78-8a89-b013bb40e911","accessControl_ssim":["edd06017-a1c8-4bf1-8799-74752cd9ebf3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Children in worship: the body of Christ; living our worship"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:35:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:47:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["08d4eddf-b1ef-4eda-a6e0-4c39cf085244"],"hasLease_ssim":["0fc5f6c7-22d2-4746-b1d4-0d592fd7e4cb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Donald B Rogers"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Arlys A Fogt"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Greene Street United Methodist Church (Piqua, Ohio)","Worship--Study and teaching","Children--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The focus of this ministry project was reclaiming worship as a multigenerational experience with children actively involved in the rituals and rites of the church. The project focused on the identification, adaptation, utilization and analysis of common spiritual direction methods to facilitate healing and restoration in the life of urban African American women of varying ages and backgrounds who had experienced a crisis that impacted their spirituality. Using a qualitative case study methodology, the participants attended a 13-week program that utilized a variety of spiritual direction methods and learning tools. The project helped the participants re-shape their theology, re-interpret scripture, and re-image God. Healing was initiated through release of shame, forgiveness, empowerment, and reawakened spirituality. The researcher recommends follow up sessions at six month intervals to re-engage the participants and analyze the long term effect of the project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128545777418240,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:01:31.490Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:33:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:47:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"191033a9-aa9c-45b5-ae3d-f7bd9fdc5695","accessControl_ssim":["5c0ee55e-c368-472e-a052-5634f7c2e4a5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development of a training model for collaborative leadership in the black church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:33:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:51:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cd6c4057-8c8d-4f6b-9a09-ffaedb26ac74"],"hasLease_ssim":["30eeb15e-b796-498a-bf2b-f4f4645c0149"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Harold A Hudson","Daryl R Hairston"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Donna Denise Curry"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Damascus Road Missionary Baptist Church (Pensacola, Fla)","African American churches","Christian education--Study and teaching","African American Baptists"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Damascus Road Missionary Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida, is the project context. The workshops addressed the issues that hindered effective collaboration, team building, trust building, Myers Briggs Type Indicator and personal and spiritual development. The congregational story project, entitled Discovering Trinity's Angel, entailed videotaping long-time members, sharing remembrances of the innovative ways the congregation communicated the gospel throughout its history. These stories were shown in worship throughout Lent, 2006, and were accompanied by presentations on the influence of media in biblical and church history. The impact of biblical storytelling and the Discovering Trinity's Angel project were measured by both survey and focus groups. The project found that by experiencing the stories of its past, the congregation understood the challenge to further develop its digital culture ministry as consistent with its historic identity and mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127785177088000,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:49:26.124Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:33:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:01:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6caba502-1759-46fc-bc5b-d0d7e0505b2a","accessControl_ssim":["80a1431c-99b2-464d-9b71-6687163f1bde"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Wilt thou be made whole: infusing life into the church through a ministry of faith, healing and wholeness"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:33:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:18:44Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7c467161-a1fb-462f-962c-153cfb743a9b"],"hasLease_ssim":["7502c743-a432-412b-a14a-c0ae33b26622"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kent L Poindexter","Felix D Burrows"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Dianne D Coles"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Campbell African Methodist Episcopal Church (Washington, DC)","Bible--Study"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to revitalize a church leadership that had lost its passion for ministry, utilizing a study of the healing ministry of Jesus.
