This project began with the research of the simple church model and women's ministry. It considers theological research in the area of evangelism and reviews current literature about outreach, focusing on relationships, friendship evangelism, and using recreational settings in outreach. Described are the processes and methods that were used to develop, implement, and evaluate the training of laypeople to become better witnesses in recreational settings. The findings suggest that training for evangelism in recreational settings used in conjunction and the use of such recreational settings used for intentional evangelism help those providing a Christian witness. This is rapidly changing because of societal need and the fact that the Bible has many things to say about care of our world. In fact, environmental stewardship was the frst job given human beings by God. It is even more important today. This project acknowledges the need to mobilize the church to be stewards of the environment, and develops a course of study to be used in our congregations to make people aware of their responsibilites and motivations. The class was field tested at The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Evansville, Indiana. Project components included exploring selected new member assimilation strategies and component resources, strategy development through a discipleship training leadership team of the church, and the presentation of a strategy to the church for adoption.  The project director guided the strategy development process by selecting and utilizing a team of leaders from the discipleship training program who collaborated in developing the plan.  The completed strategy plan was presented to the church body for adoption as part of the disciple-making processes for all new members of Gloster Baptist Church. This project details a process for enhancing leadership effectiveness by cultivating self-awareness among church leaders in regard to professional will and personal humility. This project consisted of a major survey of 3044 evangelical believers regarding their background and conversion, and forty-seven in-depth interviews with evangelical believers who were raised exclusively in un-churched homes. The observers rated their pastors fairly highly, except for a significantly lower rating on their 'challenging the process.' These congregations were forty percent smaller that the average congregation in the United States. The project director developed a training class using resources suggested by Bill Donahue and Randall Neighbour.  The nine didactic sessions written led participants into a greater evaluation and understanding of the components of group health.  The sessions included the vision and values of Faith Promise Church, spiritual leadership, the stages of group life, analysis of the five purpose model of groups (worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism), and a review of the ultimate goal of group life: multiplication.
