With an examination of existing literature the report began with a historical, theological, anthropological, and missiological prolegomena. The actual project consisted of forty-five in-depth interviews with three generations of Saxons from Kitchener-Waterloo and Aylmer, Ontario. The key conclusion of the research was that the role of the church has substantially deteriorated among all generations of Saxons. When older Saxons insisted on speaking German in club and church, they excluded their younger generation from participation and leadership. The project shows how congregations discern God's lead in decision making through their daily life situation, social contexts, and various other circumstances.  The central task of this project is to trace the path of the planning process that KUMCGW pursued to discern God's plan and analyze the various factors that worked together to attain it.  With biblical, theological, and historical research, the varied ways of discernment are summed up in two categories: the realistic/rationalistic way and the pietistic/mystical way of discernment. The LSSC offered modules, targeting particular leadership needs in one district.  Using two approaches, development oa ministry tool and case study, she explored ecclesiology of small churches and tailored learning/training events to some realities of the small church: primacy of relationships, simpler organizational structure, and lay-oriented power. The project asks whether the method of shared leadership in which the senior pastor, Dr. Mark Lacey, and the author are currently engaged in is theologically sound.  Central to this examination is the notion of 'prevenient trust.'  Prevenient trust, like prevenient grace, is that which is offered before any effort is made to merit it, specifically in regard to leadership. As suspected, the study revealed an uneven, and sometimes absent, awareness of the spiritual nature of the PNC's work. The resulting project seeks to enhance the spiritual context of the pastor search task by providing suggestions for guiding search committees in a more spiritually-aware process. Conversely, an effectively managed pastoral persona can actually aid in the communication of a message.  This project explores the issue and offers strategies for effectively managing pastoral persona.  The project surveys scholarship on the subject of rhetoric, a study of celebrity preachers, and the results of two focus groups held to explore issues of pastoral persona with mid career pastors and with seminary students.
