The study explores the development of the biblical and theological history limiting women's vocational choices.  It traces the enactment, well into the 1960s, of 'disjoining' in the deaconess order.  Remembrances of affected women enflesh the archival records.  A theological framework is applied to assess the quality of the apology.  The disjoining and the apology are both stories of lost opportunity.  The women lost vocational expression and suffered economic and social loss. Worshipers participated in this contemplative approach to reading Scripture during six midweek Lenten services.  In three months, Sunday worshipers' sermon ratings increased almost one third (32%); this increase is statistically significant (p = .00). The Lectio Divina-style approach was introduced to a second congregation, but without the experiential participation. Study materials included the primary preaching text, along with exegetical and devotional reflections.  Some participants studied the material individually. Others studied it collectively (before a meeting, blogging, small group).  Sermon surveys with both quantitative and qualitative questions measured their responses. The surveys indicated that those who studied the texts ahead of time had a more positive listening experience. Five leaders were selected and equipped in cognitive ability, skills and affect for six months.  This equipping process included six training sessions, implementing the core elements of small group ministry: effective leadership, good community environment, balanced small group activities into the small groups and individual monthly mentoring.  All the leaders demonstrated spiritual growth and improved their understanding of the concepts and practical skills of doing small group ministry. The project began because there seemed to be no real ministry being conducted in regard to the families of the incarcerated.  Through the utilization of surveys, interaction with various governmental agencies, and direct initiative to the targeted people group, it became evident that there were substantial difficulties that had to be overcome by the church, the employees of the Colorado Department of Corrections, and the families of the incarcerated for true ministry to occur. The project reviewed worldview, contextualization and biblical elements relating to making Irish disciples. The literature search conducted followed the development of Celtic spirituality along with two counter themes or antithetical elements, Christianity and the English in Ireland. Fifty-two questionnaires and three interviews of Irish were evaluated with the literature research to formulate and understanding of present day Celtic spirituality in western central Ireland.
