Utilizing a qualitative research design twelve missionaries were interviewed from different demographic groups. Security concerns, desire for a close relationship, and identity issues are discussed as main sources of stress for single missionaries. The findings indicate that pastoral care in the form of short-term visiting ministry is urgently needed, since they usually have no partner with whom to discuss their stressors and thus dangerously ignore their stressors due to their training and endurance. The readings are introduced and connected with framing statements. The project surveyed congregants' attitudes and experiences of priesthood. Responses were compared with 'official' church teaching in the context of a parish-wide conversation. Parishioners identified both tensions and possibilities for exploring lay and ordained ministries. Case studies reveal lessons learned through interviews, surveys, and onsite visits at churches that have incorporated a team-preaching model. The project illustrates how a stage 5 modal level of aspiration among church leaders can encourage a church to serve the needs of people as different developmental stages simultaneously.  Church leaders who can reliably identify an individual's stage of faith, and who speak multiple 'languages of faith,' can adapt their ministries of discipleship, evangelism and pastoral care to effectively meet each individual's needs. It began with the insights of historians of American evangelical engagement with politics. In discussing creation, fall, and redemption, this dissertation exposited scripture and engaged in dialogue primarily with the neo-Calvinist writings of Abraham Kuyper and his followers.
