Weber's bureaucracy provides a lens to explore the congregation's current organizational self-understanding. Then, the study employs Lathrop's primary symbol of assembly to design and introduce a new structure. Church members were interviewed before and after the training to assess shifts in their organizational self-understanding. The methodology encourages imagination in preaching and a genuine dialogue between the congregation and scripture.  It also illustrates Don S. A case is made in this paper for preaching as reflection to constitute an applicable homiletical model for a postmodern, post-theistic, and progressive theological context.  This model was developed over a three-year period, grounded in preaching projects which were designed and tested in a diverse, multi-generational, affirming congregation of the United Church of Canada.  Drawing on two projects and eight program sermons undertaken as part of the writer's studies in the ACTS D. Min. in preaching program, this paper describes how a conversational homiletic, a homiletic of hospitality, and a collaborative homiletic can provide the essential elements for preaching as reflection. Further, this work demonstrates how preaching as reflection sets a spacious table which values diversity, honors experience, is inspired by a variety of different sources, and practices genuine hospitality. These operating systems are emotion, social interaction, cognitive functioning, physiological learning, and reflective insights. Beyond the presence of these five systems, this project seeks to determine how often these five areas are interrelated in the preaching event. This case study of Solid Rock United Methodist Church provides one such model. From the research five transferable insights emerged. Research about the experience of pastoral discouragement is compiled through interviews with four pastors serving in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A), congregational level.  The divine sense of call is explored along with the dilemma of pastoral discouragement.  The paper identifies five common causes of pastoral discouragement: pastoral roles and ministry expectations, lonerism and unused support mechanisms, ministry as a helping profession, diminished pastoral authority and cultural status, and institutional decline. This Project offers a model for implementing, developing and sustaining such groups for the Church and community. In so doing, the Qualitative Research Methodology was employed. This included observations, field notes, interviews and questionnaires that were taken during the meetings of the Edgewater and Bethel Baptist Bereavement Support Groups. Despite being in the middle of a college campus for over one hundred years, there is no organized ministry between Banner Elk Presbyterian Church and the students of Lees-McRae College.  Through a survey and conversations with students regarding their spiritual needs, Banner Elk Presbyterian Church set out to redefine its presence on the campus Lees-McRae College. This paper identifies Religious Ethical Mediation, developed by Marcia Y. Riggs, as a way of recognizing and accepting the differences in the ministry of the deacon and the presbyter.
