In compliance with that commission, passion and action are the two sides of the coin for Christians. Passion is the heat for evangelism, while action is the light for evangelism. However, though Christians in Hong Kong have passion for evangelism, the church has no significant growth. A 65-question research tool was sent to 100 pastors and church leaders in churches of different sizes and ages. Bible application is prescriptive. What happens when the preacher faces a multiethnic audience? How can the preacher communicate the truth of scripture, if the audience doesn't share the common characteristics that facilitate communication and understanding? The tension stems from the fact that those who immigrate consequently face cultural changes. With such tension come the maladies that are often, if not always, psychological in nature. Children of immigrants are caught between cultures and have to make a choice to either immerse in their adopted culture or keep their traditional, ancestral culture. Lack of basic HIV/AIDS knowledge, risky behavior, religious conservatism, stigma, fear of status being exposed to other community members, and socioeconomic issues are some factors that contribute to the spread of HIV/AIDS within African-American populations. African Americans have close ties to the church, but the African American churches, until recently, have been slow to address HIV prevention. Several successful churches and faith based/public health collaborations were identified, with some limitations within these programs discussed, but too many are doing nothing. This study examines the community churches and reviews the empirical literature on faith-based HIV prevention programs among African American populations. The research led to the development of integrated wellness training and an integrated clergy self-care plan that was tested on a target group of Salvation Army officers in the Arkansas-Oklahoma division. This study presents a compelling argument that optimum wellness hinges on the balance and integration of body, mind, and spirit. It demonstrated that pastoral care must flow out of the minister's self-care, and that the minister's own degree of wholeness profoundly impacts the integrity of ministry to others.  Integrative wellness retreats were conducted as a key aspect of this thesis project. It has been demonstrated through comparative analysis of pre- and post-test survey data that the teaching that was conducted and integrated clergy self-care plans that were developed positively modified the behaviors of participating officers. It suggests that preachers can play a role in bringing about transformation in the area of justice by stressing the importance of justice in scripture and in the life of the believer. Three areas are identified as contributing to stasis and decline; a shift in vision and values, the personality traits of pastoral leadership, and connection with the surrounding community. Three sets of diagnostic tools were used; the Transforming Church Index, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the FIRO-B Profile, Ministry Area Profile and Compass Report.
