The study explored lived experiences with the objective of developing an innovative formation model. The study resulted in the development of formation concepts which would support Christian men who are attempting to live out their full redemptive potential. There were three main steps in reaching this goal: the exegesis of biblical principles to find the model of Jesus' incarnational ministry, the exegesis of the Thai Buddhist context, and the development of a Thai contextualized model for building an effective ministry. The findings from field studies supported the library research about the belief system of the Thai Buddhist students and their value orientations. Using a qualitative case study method, observations from the wight men were presented in a conversational sequence, and then analyzed for significant themes that were unique to the discipleship experience. The means to spiritual growth were identified, as were the hindrances to spiritual growth. A questionnaire distributed to these chaplains recorded the effectiveness of the self-care program upon their emotional, behavioral, and spiritual resiliency. The project revealed that the self-care program had a positive effect on their behavior and emotional resiliency, and some impact on their spiritual resiliency. The project introduced the participants to the Sayings and the positive leadership the Sayings give to Christian spirituality. A qualitative phenomenological research design was employed. The author utilized an interview protocol based on identified stressors cited in previous research. Seven major stressors were noted by participants with safety concerns, absence of field-specific training, and cross-cultural conflict being the most prominent. Three categories of stressors emerged: individual stress, cross-cultural stress, and professional stress.
