The program was evaluated on the basis of three identifying marks of discipleship set forth in the gospel of John: abiding in Jesus' word, loving one another, and bearing fruit. An evaluation team was formed from church leadership to survey Sunday school participants to determine the program's effectiveness in terms of the above three distinctives. This gap revealed a lack of confidence arising from an inadequate understanding of the depths of connections between baptism and healing. Through a sermon series, a focus group Bible study, and questionnaires, the project sought to discover biblical and theological correspondence with the denomination's position. The key conclusion of the research was that with some exception there was among the congregation congruence with the denomination's doctrinal statement on a vital teaching that seems unpopular or unwelcome in the current climate of 'felt-needs' ministry. This project examines the biblical and historical roots of disciple-making and presents a method of equipping parents to disciple their children. This type of face-to-face disciple-making restores the highly relational nature of Christian discipleship. Through a workshop and ongoing contact with their pastor, parents were mentored in parent-child disciple-making and spent twenty weeks developing a disciple-making relationship with their teenage children. Implementation was the main qualitative research method used. The main objective was to implement five different components into the small group ministry with the hope that group participation would increase to a percentage which reflected Central Church's stated vision that small groups were an important way to connect. Quantitative and qualitative approaches were used including pre- and posttest surveys and focused group discussions. Statistically, findings from this study suggested a positive effect of mentoring enrichment training on all outcomes. It was hypothesized that helping them see the difference between their beliefs and their behaviors in relation to their roles as men would develop a cognitive dissonance that would lead to a change in their behaviors. Five spiritual disciplines were identified in the lives of David and his mighty men and Jesus and his disciples and incorporated into the Cavetime Training Program (CTP).
