The focus was on intentional discipleship through an adult Christian education program of Bible, in combination with behavioral and spiritual disciplines to increase biblical knowledge, change behavior, and change attitudes toward discipleship. The data suggests that there were positive changes in biblical literacy, attitude, the practice of spiritual disciplines, and in making disciples. It was anticipated that the selected churches would have: a professionally trained appointed leader and trained laypersons; a safe environment for hope and healing; a clear pathway for people to find help; and the churches would use both prepackaged and their own written programs/materials. The research method and design was a case study of these three churches using interviews, direct observations and documentation such as websites and print materials. The goal was to gather the best practices from these church ministries and prayerfully seek to directly apply various organizational and functional traits to Wildwood Community Church in Norman and in the surrounding areas. This research sought to discover how the selected churches structure and execute their care and counseling ministries. In addition, this research endeavored to learn new ways of incorporating staff and laypeople as leaders and workers in Wildwood's Care and Counseling Ministry. The project consisted of an eight month preaching course that included preaching supervision, coaching, and methodology training. Through the participant's use of reflection papers lessons were gleaned that demonstrate supervision's effectiveness. The study concluded that supervision promotes the moral support, self-awareness, and acquisition of preaching skills by lay preachers, while allowing new voices to responsibly be used by the Holy Spirit to speak to the Church in cooperation and harmony with ordained preaching."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["416f1c5f-a1c7-4596-b214-83b6abadee9c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130163101040640,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:27:13.889Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:52:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:47:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1e071bb8-5d89-4dd1-ac75-280b19577f02","accessControl_ssim":["bd6b86c7-3d60-4fc8-bbe8-03eb4ab45cfa"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Strategizing leadership for an African Methodist Episcopal church plant"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:52:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:01:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f9b0c718-9ed8-42d2-94f3-20b6b3b4dfe5"],"hasLease_ssim":["1e1e8deb-71b6-4ed8-89eb-d9324e9f4690"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Jeffery L Tribble"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Darlene M Barr"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["African Methodist Episcopal Church","Church development, New"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["A new church planter needs a strategic plan that has both the spiritual and business dimensions. The second chapter sees the prayer practices of Lectio Divina and Visio Divina being integrated into a methodology for preaching preparation. The third chapter demonstrates, through five preaching cases, how the incorporation of Visio Divina can become part of the preaching preparation process that includes not only the preacher but parish Partners-in-Preaching groups. The fourth chapter and the appendices highlight the learning's and give evidence for integrating Visio Divina in the Ministry of the Word in a parish setting by the response received back from parishioners at Our Lady of the Black Hills in Piedmont, SD"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["416f1c5f-a1c7-4596-b214-83b6abadee9c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130348315213824,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:30:10.524Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":354,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
