The thesis is about developing Mandarin ministry in the Chinese Alliance Churches of Australia. It is to plant a mandarin speaking congregation in a Chinese church using the resources from both Cantonese congregations and second-generation English congregation. Using interviews with churches that have existing Mandarin ministry with mainland Chinese, the author researched and examined the contributing factors to an effective strategy to develop Mandarin ministry. He will also work up a model for church development to submit to the China Assemblies of God Council. In this dissertation the writer, through the lens of the developing history of the Pentecostal faith, faces the possibility of the American Assemblies of God pulling out its missionaries from Taiwan and considers that situation in light of the lack of enough Taiwanese ministers. The question to be asked is: what should the China Assemblies of God in Taiwan do to continue their evangelical ministry in the 21st century, this era of booming information? The trend of future ministry development for the churches and organizations which belong to the China Assemblies of God is also discussed. The 'church ministry' of the China Assemvlies of God is the primary aim to writer's reasearch. In order to accomplish this task, the author interviewed German field officers. Three concerns were expressed. First, current ministry priorities are unsatisfying for the majority of officers. Second, the officers long to invest more of their time in spiritual formation. Third, the officers perceive that the THQs priorities inadequately relate to their own desires for ministry. This study gives three recommendations to the Salvation Army: First, clear ministry valance. Second, maintaining relationships with officers. Using descriptive research methodology, twelve missions-active churches were selected for analysis, and case studies were written so that other churches could learn from their example. Pastors and missions leadership teams were primary factors motivating these churches. Missions champions involve others in communicating God's heart for all peoples. Missions education shapes the church culture through multigenerational learning experiences. Missions-active churches are prayerful, supportive and sending churches. The dissertation clarifies how to understand charisma and charismatic leadership in a way that helps founders to name a successor and maintain the integrity of their relationship with the followers. A review of leadership studies on charisma, charismatic leadership, and succession planning is the lens for analysis of the research on succession planning for Hillside Chapel and International Truth Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
