The first section of this project addresses death. It explores such authorities as psychiatrist Irvin Yalom who wrote regarding the momentous importance of death and its role in shaping one's life perspective. The focus of quoted sources and of the author is that death needs to be confronted as a life-empowering change; especially the lives and death competence of chaplains and clergy. Only through such change will chaplains and clergy be unfettered to teach, model, and assist others, in confronting the destructive forces of death anxiety and fear of death. Exploring death anxiety and fear of death, defines death anxiety while discussing the relationship between death anxiety and fear. Fear of death has a focus, a primary concern. Most scholars conclude that three primary concerns comprise fear of death: Thoughts of a punishing afterlife; dread of annihilation; and the physical pain that may be felt while dying. The project explains how an integration of knowledge, skills, and competences is critical to preparing the chaplain/clergy for effective ministry. The professional caregiver will need to come to terms with her/his own mortality before building the trust that transcends the fear and death anxiety inherent with end-of-life patients."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714530558738432,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:32:04.657Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:35:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:43:25Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2521e60d-525c-4908-a9e5-c4936221765c","accessControl_ssim":["cc711515-540d-41ae-bb68-46bb23886d2a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["S.P.I.R.I.T.: a program for the transformation of self-concept in the incarcerated"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:35:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:13:32Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["bd4d9b6d-22ed-4e50-ba70-5371a756de69"],"hasLease_ssim":["f22a2e37-487e-43a6-8c66-6d7fd6cbf104"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kathy T McFadden"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Henry D Tysor"],"publisher_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Group counseling","Self-perception","Church work with prisoners"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study evaluated the effectiveness of two (2) pastoral groups designed to help support personal change in incarcerated offenders through a heightened awareness of self. The study was successful in demonstrating how the theme of 'holiness' would bring significant changes to the members of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130791076429824,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:37:12.774Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:35:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:17:23Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c67eff07-0b53-429a-9ede-3b52dfd5d426","accessControl_ssim":["c25392a5-1ed6-40cd-981a-28e3598b4f9b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Hybrid course design model for alternative format courses at Biblical Seminary"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:35:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:49:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["34c70b99-0656-4c14-97f2-a6d42fbb3166"],"hasLease_ssim":["3eb91556-07f7-48e5-ab3b-360fb8e42954"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Biblical Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul Dunbar"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Susan M Disston"],"publisher_tesim":["Biblical Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Experimental methods","Internet in education","Biblical Theological Seminary","Theological seminaries--Faculty"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Hybrid courses using web-based educational technology are a new development in higher education in the twenty-first century. The hybrid course design model was approved by Biblical Seminary's faculty in 2011 to meet the needs of the alternate format programs. The purpose of this applied research project was to assess the hybrid course design model in order to make recommendations for improving the model. The study included five courses taught by three instructors in the alternative format programs. The four key elements of the hybrid course design model were evaluated: 1) online and classroom activities, 2) interactivity, 3) teaching presence, and 4) administrative transparency. The results of the study were used to make recommendations for modifying the hybrid course design model, expanding faculty training in the use of the model's syllabus template, and improving the seminary's hybridization strategy for the alternative format programs. This study suggests that the hybrid course design model provides a sound foundation for effectively delivering courses in the alternative format programs."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129547516674049,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:17:26.823Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:35:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:21:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4fbed8c1-1bd4-4497-9c7e-17dcd5f51b14","accessControl_ssim":["d5e2c542-ff8e-44a5-b1b7-ea2a0d4af529"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A congregation study informed by practical theology"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:35:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:28:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6eed24c4-04c2-43c0-a0b4-4969fc643412"],"hasLease_ssim":["6263b043-18ab-4f27-ab6e-7a855a9be8a5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Michael R Turner"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert E Kennedy"],"keyword_tesim":["Congregations--Internal conflict"],"publisher_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Conflict management","Social groups"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project depicts how practical theology was used in the context of St. Peter's AME Church to discern congregational dynamics contributing to segmentation in the congregation. Building on knowledge relative to biblical teachings, historical church discipleship, and contemporary literature on this subject, this study advocates the use of three phases of teaching to accomplish this goal. These are the study of a contemporary catechism; the development of Life Groups that incorporate Bible study, fellowship, and service; and a mentoring ministry that pairs spiritually older believers with spiritually younger believers. The findings suggest that awareness and transformation do result from intentional efforts to disciple believers."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130894651621376,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:38:51.550Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":349,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
