The diminishing zeal and the passion of the Salesian missionaries prompt me to ask the question 'can the Salesians be more spiritual and sensitive to the Nyishis and their tribal culture so as to incarnate Don Bosco's spirituality and charism in the communities they minister?' Intrapersonal intelligence is active self-awareness: the capacity to learn and adapt to the factors of one's own reality. A reflection-in-action (Schön) method evolved built on Argyris' double-loop learning using the work of Bowen, Friedman, and Steinke. The outcome is increased non-anxious ordained leadership capacity through change and development in leadership style and skills. The church's history, Paul's ministry, and technological advancements such as language, architecture and cultural practices helped enable proclamation of the Gospel. Literature should be considered as a resource for preaching and observations are made about literature's use in preaching within two congregational settings -- a structured group versus casual interaction. This study examined a system for resuscitating and healing churches that have suffered trauma. The hypothesis is that empathy, justice-mindedness, and humility, partnership with the Godhead, and koinonia, are the prescription for resuscitating and healing a church that has been traumatized. A qualitative methodology was employed utilizing surveys, interviews, and observations. Site visits were made to four nationally recognized United Methodist urban ministries that engage in partnered ministry initiatives.  Insights gained from these visits were applied to the development and implementation of an asset based partnered ministry model for the United Methodist Church Union. It reflects on the theology of discernment in the Christian tradition with particular emphasis on Ignatius of Loyola and the Quaker tradition, as well as in-depth interviews with United Methodist clergy on the practices of discernment that have been helpful to them over the course of their career with an emphasis on how to transition from positive placement settings. A review of literature on the ars moriendi tradition reveals common themes of hope, compassion, and patience. For the African American community, the Bible continues to be the source for understanding death. Among this community, acceptance of hospice services has been slow. The project was developed to help the African American community embrace hospice care. An end-of-life care workshop that partnered hospice caregivers and African American church leadership was developed.
