The components of the 'Adaptive Courage' model include irrational thoughts, emotional sabotage, relational seclusion, volitional inaction, and spiritual inattentiveness with their counterparts ensnared opportunity, humble confidence, selective vulnerability, incremental tenacity, and simple transcendence. Ten diverse leaders participated in individual intake and teaching sessions and follow-up debriefing and assessment sessions. Members of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest will be surveyed through an online questionnaire and focus groups regarding their own values and practices in philanthropy and where they believe their local church should be involved in mission. Members view religion as a subset of a community mutual aid society. Members have expressed a feeling of incompetence regarding their ability to read and/or understand the Bible and have communicated disinterest in learning about God although they espouse Christian values.  Therefore the challenge is to find a way of Biblical preaching that will excite this congregation and create a desire to be in relationship with God. In order to do this, a qualitative research project was designed. Six non-Christians were asked to share a significant story. Special attention was given to how feelings, events, imagined futures, and beliefs emerged in the stories. In response to the problem the researcher studied themes of leadership in the Scripture and in relevant contemporary literature.  He then investigfated these themes in operation by interviewing twelve present or former ministry leaders and the leadership boards at five large Hmong churches in the United States.  From this study the researcher identified seven factiors associated with effective leadership among the Hmong church. In-depth analysis of student papers revealed taxonomies of poor English, poor academic writing, plagiarism indicators, and characteristics of plagiarism and fabrication. The researcher believes plagiarism results from knowledge, ability, or motivational deficiencies.
