This tool assessed a respondent's formation in Christ-likeness with respect to nine groupings of virtues/vices and six dimensions of the self. based on these results it recommended particular spiritual disciplines. This resource was reviewed by a panel of experts who indicated that it met its project goals reasonably well. The following research promotes a thirteen-week course, addressing the core doctrines of the Christian faith in catechetical style.  The project affirms that doctrinal teaching in the local church promotes proficiency in belief, behavior, and devotion by studying the Apostles' Creed, the Ten Commandments and the Lord's Prayer as a three-fold curriculum. A copy of the resource, integrating anger management theories and praxis with spiritual formation theories and praxis, was presented to an expert panel comprised of pastors and Christian counselors, along with a questionnaire by which evaluations were made of the resource measuring six goal characteristics. Analysis of the results clearly indicates that the six intended goals were reasonably achieved, especially the goal of fostering spiritual formation. The data confirmed that people do not attend because preachers appear to be seeking emotional responses during preaching, members are not friendly and welcoming, leadership caters to a particular group, and the extreme concern with collecting money. There is lack of training. Some believe that the women control everything. The members are afraid of responsibility and criticism. Some believe that no problem exists. This training manual also provides information regarding the histories and effects of major missionary influences of the region's past.Evaluations reported that the manual provided an adequate summary of historic mission endeavors in Alaska's panhandle. This study determined through surveys, interviews, and research behaviors these pastors believed effective for church growth and the application of these behaviors in the church. The most important discovery that the author made was the state of disconnect among many pastors between what they believed about church growth and what was practiced in the local church. This state of disconnect may be a factor in church decline. The church must change its conversation with young adults if it desires a hopeful future beyond the current generation of pastoral leadership. Through analyzing call narratives of ordained young adults, and by identifying ministry strategies of nurturing congregations, best congregational practices emerge: asking the 'call' question, mentoring, service, leadership opportunities, and connecting with the larger church. However, members remember being 'the church' in the aftermath of the April 1974 tornado when they served their community face to face. In this project, the author explored if meeting a mission recipient face to face, hearing their story, and photographing them would enable members to see the image of God in someone who is very different from them.
