When relationships deepen, personal and community transformation occurs. By extension, the generative hope of a community and its children prosper. The people of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Oxford, North Carolina want to know their neighbors in the perpetually declining, poverty-ridden neighborhoods around the church. This poverty-trap imprisons parents, children, and families without hope of a different future. Our community and its citizens can be so much more than we are; and the faith community offers a unique commodity in this transformation. Jesus Christ calls us beyond our comforting walls to address socio-economic issues that plaque our communities. Through the love of God and deepening relationships, we authentically experience transformation through parity. The faith community cannot accomplish the mission alone. St. Augustine of Hippo directs the citizens of the City of God, temporarily residing in the earthly city (Babylon), to identify the 'common good'. Our Christian commodity is a 'peculiar peace' and love of God, which draws us outward to our neighbor. This project is local, community relationship-building - a partnership between St. Stephen's, Social Services, and the Boys and Girls Club. The church, government, and local stakeholders identify the common good, as we jointly offer and engage practical resources for the parents of children enrolled in club activities. It is not another program; rather a space to grow and learn together with neighbors. The social principles of subsidiarity, sphere sovereignty, and generativity under-gird this faith-based partnership; and qualitative data in the form of surveys, questionnaires, focus groups, and interviews highlight the research methods. In the end, the experience of participants is transformative, with new neighborhood partnerships forming, and deepening, holy relationships changing hearts, one-by-one. This thesis contains five parts: Preface, Biblical and Theological foundation, Design of the Research, Findings and Solutions and Conclusions and Directions of the future. Part 1: Preface. It introduces the motivation and questions for the research topics. It points out that to establish and build up the Christian family is the calling of this generation and is the efficient strategy to withstand the attack of secularization. It asks the question of how to help the family foster and develop talented children for the Kingdom of God and how to help with continual growth of the church.Part II: Biblical and Theological foundation. This thesis is based on biblical theology and explores the purpose and significance of the family as established by GOD. It introduces the concept of establishing the Christian family and investigate the theory from the perspective of edification of the church, the growth of the church leadership and the concept of pilgrim family in combination of teachings in the bible. Part III: Design of the Research. The thesis illustrates the method and the design of the research. It uses the qualitative method by conducting in-depth interviews with five separate Pastors to collect data from which to make conclusions using the phenomenon analysis method. Part IV: Findings and Solutions. This part is based on Chapter II and Chapter III and categorizes the research findings to develop a systematic conclusion. It also provides practical solutions on how to encourage and cultivate the ministries of Christian family leadership in order to grow the church. It helps the church to be more efficient in pasturing the Christian families. Part V: Conclusions and Directions of the future. It confirms the mutual beneficial relationship between the church and the family and how they can positively influence each other. It provides a viable solution for church ministry and developing future generations for the Kingdom of God.This thesis provides new inspiration and methods for ministering new immigrant families from Mainland China. In addition to that, it should be one of the ministries of high importance by the house church in China. It will help the house church to grow steadily under persecution and also help the house church to pass down the faith to future generations and develop more talented leaders for the Kingdom of God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Logos Evangelical Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["54e7729a-4915-469f-8fd5-c7bb7ccd6c20"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134465420951552,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:35:36.902Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:50:24Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:26:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ec6adbf9-b4b3-488d-8218-ed2171b590d1","accessControl_ssim":["542cda1e-4166-4b99-8eb2-41fcd59ca99d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping selected Members of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Jasper, Alabama with Personal Prayer Competencies"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T17:50:23Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:53:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["00a697af-db9e-470c-9a73-c7332b9d4055"],"hasLease_ssim":["bb075c2e-503a-4f2c-9ff0-cfa99010e5cf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Reggie R Ogea"],"year_tesim":["2017"],"location_tesim":["Alabama--Jasper"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John Philip Gates"],"keyword_tesim":["Prayer workshop"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Jasper, Alabama","Prayer--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to equip selected members of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Jasper, Alabama, with personal prayer competencies. To achieve this goal, the project director worked in the following way. First, the meaning and contents of diaspora, church, and leadership were explored based on the Bible. Second, the selected literature on American community, Korean diaspora community, Korean diaspora church, church leadership, and curriculum were carefully studied. Third, the project director did unintentional participant observation and (unintentionally and intentionally) interviewed the New Life Baptist Church and its community. Fourth, he listened to the faculty and field mentors, church education specialists and the persons concerned, and curriculum specialists and lifelong education experts. Fifth, a list of annotated bibliographies was created, and a five-session curriculum was developed. Sixth, the project director reflected on the promotion of his own knowledge and curriculum development skills on the subject of the project. Seventh, the project director revised some of the annotated bibliographies generated by himself based on the quantitative and qualitative evaluation opinions of the church education experts on the curriculum. As a result of this project research, a single, annotated bibliography was created and a curriculum was developed for the re-education of church education leaders in the New Life Baptist Church in Suwanee, Georgia. The result of this project, including the findings of this project, will contribute to the transformation of the Korean Diaspora Church into a church that is not generationally separate, but worshipping God, serving the communities and the nations, and teaching and learning together with all the generations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715345001349120,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:45:01.370Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":218,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
