Six men who were involved in Christian men's mentorship ministry programmes in Jamaica were interviewed to ascertain what social benefits, spiritual benefits, and personal development benefits can be derived from a men's mentorship programme in the Jamaican context. The study is a basic qualitative research. An interview schedule was developed and administered over a two month period, the data was analyzed, and benefits/themes identified. In order to achieve this objective, biblical and theological data, social science literature, and current missional housing models were researched and a model for missional houses was designed, implemented, and tested. The methodology undertaken was Participatory Action Research and included resident surveys, missional health assessments, and interviews. Project participants met for four two-hour sessions to discuss the weekly reading and their responses to the process questions. Participants were given a pre-test and post-test questionnaire to measure the impact of the reading upon their spiritual growth. Using action research, sixteen members of a Toronto congregation participated and viewed their life as a context for mission. They studied Christ's discipleship in Matthew's gospel and reflected on the missio Dei, God's missionary character and initiative to redeem his creation.They partnered with agencies to initiate community service. The project design included the administration of pre-test and post-test questionnaires and the completion of weekly spiritual assignments. The results using the formational curriculum revealed that the participants were able to identify the presence of grief and process through their emotions and loss. The design of the project included the administration of the pre-test and post-test questionnaires, along with personal observation and interaction with the trip participants. This phenomenological, qualitative study presents a curriculum that addresses shame and equips in contemplative prayer, scripture meditation, and soul care relationships to develop shame resilience. Twelve men and women participated in a spiritual formation group and retreat. All reported a noticeable and transformative increase in shame resiliance, and the ability to develop ongoing resilience strategies.
