The purpose of this project was to develop a ministry evangelism strategy for Ridglea Heights Baptist Church, Escatawpa, Mississippi. The project was focused upon four main phases. First, the project director researched contemporary practices of evangelism ministry to determine what practices may be effective in the local community. Second, using demographic data and a local community needs survey, the project director and team analyzed the needs and lifestyles of the community in Escatawpa, Mississippi. Third, using a strategy team consisting of active church members, the project director developed a ministry evangelism strategy for Ridglea Heights Baptist Church in an effort to reach those in the local community who are not connected to another local church body. Fourth, the project director and team presented the ministry evangelism strategy to the deacons and staff of Ridglea Heights Baptist Church for approval."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719275771985920,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:47:30.045Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:13:51Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:09:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"84c95fa8-61ee-48a3-b6cb-67a461543bdc","accessControl_ssim":["46b6a37f-69cc-43cf-8fc9-79c1d8638e7b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Researching racial reconciliation in the Southern Baptist Convention"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:13:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:02:51Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["20dc4c86-3cc5-4c31-b6eb-ffbe966668ad"],"hasLease_ssim":["3dfcc5b6-3879-4401-8eed-92e6ee1bac11"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Lloyd A Harsch"],"year_tesim":["2018"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Mark Louis Johnson"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["History","Southern Baptist Convention","Race relations","African American Baptists","Baptists","Liberty Hill Baptist Church (Cleveland, Ohio)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project is to research racial reconciliation in the Southern Baptist Convention and develop a workshop for the parishioners of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio. In 2011, Liberty Hill Baptist Church took a step toward racial reconciliation by joining the Southern Baptist Convention. Parishioners, some of whom migrated from the South, expressed concerns about joining 'that racist organization.' However, despite their concerns, Liberty Hill voted overwhelmingly to join the SBC. Buried in the pile of 1,145 resolutions from 1845 to 2017 are resolutions specifically impacting African Americans. These resolutions expand the narrative of Southern Baptist Convention life, culture, and faith and reveal God's redemptive power that has allowed the Southern Baptist Convention to evolve from an organization with a connection to slavery to one of the most diverse conventions in the United States."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716858702594048,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:09:04.948Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:13:46Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:14:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8f511063-ff42-451a-a755-90b7ea6dced5","accessControl_ssim":["29e7fab3-8958-4341-b370-ade8915b448b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Homily preparation for evangelization : the contributions of ethos and storytelling"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:13:45Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:19:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["10aada89-a543-4546-896f-20e1266f803e"],"hasLease_ssim":["46fb079b-e996-4472-9673-959e95813e91"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"advisor_tesim":["Edward Foley"],"year_tesim":["2018"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Yeonwoo Jeong"],"keyword_tesim":["Sermon preparation"],"publisher_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"subject_tesim":["Storytelling--Religious aspects--Christianity","Whitehead, James D","Catholic preaching","Whitehead, Evelyn Eaton"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis-project examines the contribution of ethos and storytelling to homily preparation for evangelization employing the model and method developed by James and Evelyn Whitehead in Methods in ministry for theological reflection. The preacher's interest in ethos enables the preacher to prepare the homily through the eyes and ears of the assembly. In addition, storytelling can encourage the assembly to listen to God's Word in their lives because life is easily understood in a narrative mode. Thus, this thesis-project states that ethos and storytelling assist in preparing a dialogic homily."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b51273d2-7ff5-4ecb-af24-64508c2367ad"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129372505145344,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:14:39.919Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:13:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:16:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b08d9982-1497-48f6-b371-61c3b43fa598","accessControl_ssim":["81338c2b-49c8-4e1c-86ed-fa824241e0e0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Truly sisters : Catholic and Muslim women walking in solidarity on the path to interfaith leadership"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:13:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:13:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b13a5622-f445-4c73-af2f-b75a7535ef21"],"hasLease_ssim":["f5814b2e-4960-4fa4-88f6-3b480b93d1ba"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"advisor_tesim":["Scott C Alexander"],"year_tesim":["2018"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Mary J Curtsinger"],"publisher_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"subject_tesim":["Religion","Women, Muslim","Christianity and other religions","Catholic women","Leadership--Religious aspects","Leadership in women"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["In the Islamophobic context of the contemporary U.S., this researcher gathered ten women (22-28), 'committed' Roman Catholics and Muslims--for appreciative interpersonal engagement, with goals of building relationships marked by greater justice and solidarity; supporting Muslims experiencing oppression; and planting seeds of interfaith leadership.
