John I","Spiritual formation","Christian life","Spiritual life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["In this research portfolio, the author describes Christian spiritual formation as a growth process with common stages and tasks with reference to 1 John 2:12-14 while acknowledging the uniqueness of spiritual experience for each individual Christian through spiritual autobiography. The common spiritual growth stages and tasks were developed as a model derived from an exposition with reference to 1 John 2:12-14. The uniqueness of Christian spiritual formation is acknowledged by a spiritual autobiography, which describes the author’s experiences with God and spiritual realities throughout his life. The universality of Christian spiritual growth is then suggested and illustrated through a model of spiritual growth from the passage. Lastly, a research project investigates the author’s teaching effectiveness in a Personal Growth course with ten students as participants in a Hong Kong (China) seminary using a combination of the two previous sections as teaching components in the journey of Christian spiritual formation. The findings and comments in this report bring to light some valuable teaching advice for Hong Kong seminarians concerning the duality of Christian spiritual formation. This teaching tool is analyzed for its content, sourcing, purpose, and process. The critical lenses of intercultural training and education, the study of white privilege and racism, and Hispanic/Latin@ theologies and ministry are used to determine the ongoing value of this resource to prepare non-Hispanic White-Anglo ministers to accompany Latin@ communities of faith. The participants were evaluated by distributing an assessment both by mail and email. The project included the facilitation of a pre-test and post-test Likert Scale instrument.  The course content brought focus to the principle Christian mysteries of Trinity, Christ, and the Holy Spirit.  The results indicated an increase in awareness for growth in spirituality. In order to determine the need for a prison ministry, a five-point Likert scale questionnaire survey was designed along with one to two open ended questions.  The results of the survey revealed that there was a great interest among the congregants for a prison ministry.  In the final results of my questionnaire survey and open ended questions, almost all respondents revealed that there is a need for a prison ministry. The project included a quantitative and qualitative pre-test, post-test design that measured the participants' understanding of the effects of unprocessed trauma.As a results of this study, participants increased in their knowledge about common triggers to past experiences. Surveys were completed by twenty community volunteers.  They survey consisted of twenty Likert-Scale questions, one open - ended statement, and three survey evaluation questions.  The results revealed 60% of the participants felt the church service time did not meet their schedules. The reasons included busy lifestyles, finances, and a desire to preserve personal time.  Hypocrisy in the church was selected by 45% of the participants. The participants were surveyed using an online assessment tool through a website called Survey Monkey.  The eighty-five self-selected individuals responded to the assessment instrument after they completed the journey.
