Research has shown that with the rise of post-denominationalism, there is a loss of identity in Baptist churches. This study explores the effects of dropping the name Baptist from a church’s title and its perceived impact on the theological identity of the church. This study includes a literature review analyzing the current body of literature on Baptist identity. Six Converge North Central Baptist churches were studied, three with a Baptist name and three without, using church surveys and interviews with church leaders to determine what theological differences exist between the two categories. The results of the study showed theological differences between the two categories; however, further research, including a quantitative analysis of Baptist churches spanning a broader region of the United States, would be helpful in determining catalysts for Baptist churches dropping the Baptist name."],"license_tesim":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://spark.bethel.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1295\u0026context=etd"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716837428035584,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:08:44.659Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:29:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:43:25Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9478ab3d-4dca-4d58-8375-73b93f2be55c","accessControl_ssim":["4bd5b0eb-c01e-4bb7-891e-013403c2073f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Transition from Founding Pastor to First Successor Pastor: Every Pastor Is an Interim Pastor"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:28:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9391354f-c18d-4763-9a9b-8ea22b195fbd"],"hasLease_ssim":["95d57291-928e-49ba-9c2e-06e860200d74"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bruce McRae"],"year_tesim":["2021"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Christopher A. The purpose of the study is to explore how church leaders describe influential factors in their process of transitioning from a founding pastor to a first successor pastor. This study made use of a qualitative design utilizing semi-structured interviews of founding pastors, first successor pastors and key church leaders who were involved in congregations in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) that had recently undergone a transition from a founding pastor to a first successor pastor. The literature review focused on surveying insights and principles related to transition in the following fields of inquiry: Core Ministry Practices, initial Biblical leadership transitions, leadership transitions in stepfamilies, leadership transitions in business, and leadership transitions in churches. This study revealed that there are seven key principles that must be considered in relation to a first pastoral transition:Principle #1: Every Pastor Is an Interim Pastor Principle #2: Founding Pastors Make a Unique Mark Principle #3: Plan for Transition Now Principle #4: Continually Recalibrate Your Culture for Smoother Transition Principle #5: Transition Isn’t Over when the New Pastor is Installed Principle #6: Engage the Inevitable Loss in Transition Principle #7: Even in Difficult Initial Transitions, Hope RemainsThe long-term hope for this study has been to give founding pastors, church planting core groups and church sessions working alongside a founding pastor, tools to heighten their awareness surrounding the complexity and inevitability of an initial pastoral transition."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://covenantlibrary.org/etd/2021/Polski_Christopher_DMin_2021.pdf"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131185432231936,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:43:28.861Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:29:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:58:30Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5d99654e-00b4-405d-b5b1-c022021295df","accessControl_ssim":["b1141c31-ff96-4a8b-ab64-4d015d27365c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Role of the Family-Equipping Model in Church Planting and Replanting Training for the Calvary Family of Churches in Englewood, CO"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:52:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e7319c20-9a2a-44cf-b867-04a82f5658de"],"hasLease_ssim":["ba7ad6db-f451-4d0c-8d09-179e8ccb4319"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Educational Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Family Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Danny R. In the project, the reader will be given biblical, theological, historical, and ecclesiological examples of what a healthy family ministry can look like. This project is meant to encourage and equip future and current ministers, especially those with few resources, as they seek to develop a healthy family ministry culture in their contexts. Churches can see healthy family ministry established in their midst regardless of the number of resources at their disposal. Throughout the project, the reader is given biblical instruction regarding the primacy of parental discipleship in relation to the biblical instruction of children. This primacy is made even more specific when the project addresses the role of the husband and father in the home-discipleship process. The project then looks to Hebrews 3 \u0026 10 to address the need for all ages of the church to meet regularly. Once the biblical and theological groundwork has been laid, the project then moves into a section in which the history of modern youth ministry is examined in contrast with the historical precedent of family worship. Ecclesiological matters are then discussed in detail such as the importance of intentionally limiting church calendars and the need for a plurality of elders that can lead a congregation in meaningful membership which then leads to accountable shepherding."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132134715424768,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:58:34.167Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:29:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:11:25Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ca3de554-df62-47a3-9438-d40832a10d32","accessControl_ssim":["0cd41212-aa0d-48c9-8339-76f1323266e0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["STEERING STRAIGHT: PREACHING THE TRUSTWORTHY SAYINGS OF THE PASTORAL EPISTLES AS MODELED BY HERSCHEL H. Evidence of this correlation is shown by focusing on the faithful interpretation and application of the Trustworthy Sayings of the Pastoral Epistles as modeled by the preaching of Herschel Hobbs.Beginning with a consideration of God’s plan for preaching to be of first importance within the practices of a local church, this project establishes the importance of biblically-sound doctrine for church health and revitalization. Chapter 2 begins the project’s examination of the Trustworthy Sayings, with each chapter offering an analysis of a related sermon preached by Herschel Hobbs during his pastorate at First Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Trustworthy Sayings do not appear in the same order as they are in the Pastoral Epistles, but rather are placed so that one saying builds upon the next. First Timothy 1:15 (Chapter 2) addresses soteriological views in Southern Baptist history. First Timothy 4:8-10 (Chapter 3) considers the role of doctrinal preaching in discipling church members who will be devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Chapter 4 considers Titus 3:4-8 and how believers who are devoted to God will also be devoted to good works which honor God. Second Timothy 2:11-13 (Chapter 5) speaks of God’s faithfulness and the hope which His faithfulness provides for the local church. First Timothy 3:1 (Chapter 6) addresses the character of the called and considers the qualifications of a senior pastor. The project concludes (Chapter 7) with a charge to the pulpit and the local church which, if implemented, will help protect the local church from suffering from doctrinal drift. Three recommendations for steering straight are provided."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132946424397824,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:11:28.274Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:29:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:11:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cb164af3-3c12-4958-83dd-890f3e604b97","accessControl_ssim":["3023b189-613d-45b7-8313-d66d4bf8888a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping the Korean-American Families for Family Worship at Orange Canaan Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana, CA"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:58:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e42befdd-2fb7-472c-82e5-0ed89c74431f"],"hasLease_ssim":["d0294de1-7e29-4197-9360-f7d483c0a9ec"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Educational Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Family Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Jonathan Williams Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"location_tesim":["United States","California"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["WOO LEE LEE"],"subject_tesim":["Bible. For many immigrants adjusting to life in the United States, in which their children have had to adjust to life in a whole new culture, it is often the case that they have not been able to pay much attention to their children's lives. Now, these parents face the problem of communicating to and discipling children that have grown up in a completely different language and culture—having been assimilated to the culture and having been educated in the United States growing up with a completely different set of values from their parents' generation. This thesis examines and analyzes the problem by combining practical theology, generational studies, and a study of the culture of faith communities. Biblical support is offered by an exegetical examination of three Scripture passages that demonstrate the three intimacy motifs of family, sexuality/marriage, and friendship. Trinitarian and covenant theology reveal the theme of intimacy in the triune God and redemptive history. The doctrine of Union with Christ connects human and Divine intimacy through a Christological lens. An ethnographic study involving a focus group and sixteen interviews is analyzed in order to uncover the intersection of faith and intimate relationships in emerging adults. This thesis investigates the role of faith in the lives of emerging adult relationships and offers a biblical and theological theology of intimacy."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126268186460160,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:25:19.410Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:59:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a4f97c5d-0067-4d7b-b5bf-28174430e9bf","accessControl_ssim":["c7355b7f-a39b-4d16-a7a6-8ae0b1e67cc0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Hippie Theologian: Finding Religious Meaning on Social Media"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:55:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["916065b8-5c49-4717-986d-4eebc4439f50"],"hasLease_ssim":["92a4e44f-b3d1-4be3-a085-8c3261d2021b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (Ambridge, PA)"],"advisor_tesim":["Leslie Thyberg Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2021"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This work is about how people can find religious meaning on social media by placing people on equal footing in such a way that a genuine dialogue is able to take place. This dialogue enhances the mission of the church insofar as it helps participants gain confidence in contributing to the broader project of public theology, and thereby be encouraged to go out and make disciples of all nations, as it states in Matthew 28:19. To reveal the extent of religious meaning people found on social media, surveys of followers of a Facebook page called The Hippie Theologian were conducted in two sample categories of individual participants and group participants within the Facebook page. This project initially started before the COVID-19 pandemic, but was mostly carried out during the pandemic when many churches either shut down in-person services, or operated at low-capacites, thereby prompting the use of social media for the broadcasting of worship services."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128427330273280,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:59:38.530Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:29:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c117a777-ead9-41b5-9ee6-44c49c34787f","accessControl_ssim":["70dfb34f-a866-48df-809b-857377a8a4f4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Theological Reflection: A Preaching Preparation Tool For Deacon Formation In The Archdiocese Of Seattle"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:40:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7d2204f7-23db-4410-8fa0-3fe1663006ee"],"hasLease_ssim":["6a2b02f0-233b-4be9-9fbd-b235a09ef236"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Preaching"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["William T. The chapter covers a brief overview of liturgical preaching, the problem with creating grounded preaching, and the unique qualities of deacons as liturgical preachers in addressing this problem with the guidance of theological reflection. Chapter Two introduces theological reflection as practical theology and a preaching preparation tool that encourages a dialogue between human experience and Church Traditions (Sacred Scripture, liturgy, beliefs, and teachings). Chapter Three offers adult education and curriculum development to teach theological reflection as an effective tool of preaching preparation.Chapter Four explores the current state of preaching within the Archdiocese of Seattle. It includes a summary of conversations with the homiletics and theological reflection instructors in the current deacon formation program. Then, the chapter presents the heart of the project: creating a new unit for the homiletics curriculum in the deacon formation program in collaboration with a small cohort of diocesan deacons.Chapter Five presents the final version of the new unit for the homiletics program, which was presented to the Archdiocese of Seattle (the Vicar of Clergy, the Director of the Deacon Formation Program, and the homiletics instructor)."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["416f1c5f-a1c7-4596-b214-83b6abadee9c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130323083329536,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:29:46.461Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:38:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7bb59266-f26d-4563-b60a-386ff1d52823","accessControl_ssim":["3ea4ab5d-f7ff-43e9-b73a-0c12bb67257b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching to Develop the Spirit of Generosity: A Serendipitous Journey of Faith"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:46:58Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3f4003ad-9f1b-4c7d-9c87-700e557721e8"],"hasLease_ssim":["c8ae5c26-2493-4b48-a234-c800989444fe"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Preaching"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Gennifer B. The purpose of this project is two-fold: First, the intent is to help a congregation re-examine the challenges that interfere with trusting God’s generous abundance of resources that are available each day. Second, this project will help the congregation discover and then utilize the resources that God provides each day. These resources reflect God’s justice and love. In order to accomplish these two tasks, the project will draw from the richness of biblical scripture, as well as prominent theologians and scholars, to show that preaching is a useful tool that can improve the level of generosity in the church and empower its members to fully live out their mission to extend God’s love and justice to the world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://www.proquest.com/pqdtglobal/docview/2544490532"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["fc8e637d-6b92-421f-936e-4844dc981265"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134678422388736,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:39:00.036Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:54:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4aebfdcb-34a3-4eed-aa88-47df9c78d82a","accessControl_ssim":["959c46b3-fd97-44e9-99d2-5c4e139558b0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Binary Church: The Impact Of Gift Rejection On The Basis Of Patriarchal Gender Ideology"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:28:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:19:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b78291a2-7895-4dc8-8d21-3a2d0e55be5a"],"hasLease_ssim":["c358bf8c-546f-46c9-81cd-5991f3c631a2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (Ambridge, PA)"],"advisor_tesim":["Amy C. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, it was recognized that ecclesial practices like role limitations, gender-based ministry, and forced identities contribute to experiences of exclusion, shame, and potentially gender incongruence. The failure of church leaders to recognize and eliminate these practices leads to the estrangement of women from the church and from God. Rigid gender normativity and the false association of non-stereotypical gender behaviors with the morality of sexuality prevents the church from being a community pointed toward God with its doors open to all those seeking refuge. Ecclesiastical essentialism is proposed as a transformative model that allows men and women to fully engage in the life of the church today without concern for unyielding gender binaries, serving the church as God intended when male and female were created in the image of God. Accompanying methods for reconciling detrimental ecclesial practices are provided."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719731584827392,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:54:44.742Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
