By doing so they helped each other and themselves be reacquainted with who God has called them to be in their context after they have experienced a time of burnout. For society in general, and for the Roman Catholic Church in particular, the global increase in migrants poses many questions and challenges that require coordinated, committed, and compassionate responses in order to welcome, protect, promote, and, above all, integrate them into the social and parish fabric. Also, the growing phenomenon of human mobility inevitably involves the encounter of different cultures, an encounter that places individuals and groups before various dynamics: assimilation, acculturation, disintegration, and integration/mestizaje. As pastor of a neighborhood parish in the south of Madrid, I am convinced that only integration/mestizaje is a valid response. But how do the host parishes –pastors, lay leaders, and the whole community- welcome these new cultures Latino Catholic migrants (LCMs) represent, how do they promote their integration into the parochial fabric?\r\nFocusing on the case of LCMs in an urban Spanish context, this thesis project drew on a completely new qualitative research with a selected group of five LCMs present in two parishes of the suburban area of Madrid. The research consisted of personal interviews using an open-ended questionnaire that aimed to answer the question of whether it is true that promoting the full integration of LCMs into the Spanish parochial fabric would result in a mutual enrichment that would revitalize not only the way the local community worships but also its own identity, vitality, and missionary commitment. The broad framework of this thesis project could be summarized in a threefold set of micro goals: to describe the current situation of the sample group, to identify certain patterns that might be common, and to put the findings in dialogue with the context of the host church to draw conclusions that can become pastoral orientations.\r\nThe testimonies I collected did not allow me to answer this question as clearly as I had anticipated. Rather, what I have concluded from the interviews is that LCMs enter the parishes in Madrid without any problem. However, this integration does not seem to involve a significant element of novelty, the emergence of a new ecclesial reality, the mestizo church. A subtle but real neo-colonialism still delays, if not prevents, mestizaje in parish life. Advocating for lay leadership development, particularly among youth and young adults, this study proposes nurturing empowered lay leaders as a solution to organizational stagnation. This paper reflects on the author’s own story of leadership growth and development by tracing his emergence as a leader, identifying important mentors, and noting formative experiences which contributed to his growth. Rooted in theoretical analysis, this portfolio also proposes a paradigm shift towards shared leadership,a collaborative model of leadership which integrates biblical, theoretical, and practical insights. Using Participatory Action Learning and Action Research, both obstacles and strategies for success in leadership development were discovered. Findings indicated significant growth in participants' understanding of leadership calling, spirituality, and teamwork, underscoring the effectiveness of classroom training, mentorship and collaborative approaches. The author explored leadership through the lens of Christ’s roles as prophet, priest and ruler, applying this model to his own leadership journey and to the context of cross-cultural marketplace ministry.   \r\nThe research project incorporated the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) 2016 Canadian Evangelical Mission Engagement Study (CEMES) survey, which viewed the idea of professionals and business owners working cross-culturally as missionaries positively. Pastors were asked for more information about their church’s engagement with professionals and business owners interested in cross-cultural mission work. The responses to the survey suggested that pastors viewed this approach positively but not many of their churches had made use of the model. Even though our faith summons us to Christian unity, our churches remain tragically divided along ethnic, tribal, religious, and political lines. This thesis project developed and tested the Sermon-Dialogue-Sermon preaching methodology to help equip the preachers in Cameroon to mediate peace. \r\n\r\nChapter 1 presents the project’s genesis, ministerial context, and the scope of the problem it seeks to address. Delving into the theology of reconciliation, chapter 2, which is the project’s theological framework, lays the groundwork for a biblical and theological understanding of the nonviolent preaching that emerges in the project's interdisciplinary framework in chapter 3. The project’s homiletic foundations presented in Chapter 4 discuss the sermon-dialogue-sermon method to empower preachers to preach well in a divided zone.\r\n\r\nThe training of two priests and a lay person who, in turn, conducted the sermon-dialogue-sermon method in their different contexts tested its hypothesis before twenty men and nineteen women who had deliberative dialogue with them. Chapter 5 discusses the training and the sermon-dialogue-sermon method in detail and the qualitative and quantitative data obtained through the insider, outsider, and researcher used in the intervention. Chapter 6 describes the thesis project’s identifiable findings through narrative and data analysis, concluding that the Sermon-Dialogue-Sermon Method is proper for the Church to mediate peace in Cameroon. This chapter also discusses the recommendations, lessons learned, and areas for further study. It includes my Leadership Narrative, Philosophy of\r\nLeadership, Ministry Context Analysis and Project Report. As a therapist, I have\r\nnoticed that an individual’s communication style tremendously\r\nimpacts—positively or negatively—their relationships. During the program and\r\nprocess of writing this Portfolio, I again witnessed the pivotal role that self-\r\nawareness about one’s communication style can play in improving one’s\r\nrelationships with others and strengthening teamwork. My research project\r\nfocused on the communication styles of Joy Church's (JC) key leaders and\r\nexplored how their communication impacted their team building. The\r\nmethodologies I drew on for this project were Participatory Action Research\r\n(PAR) and Ethnographic Research (ER). While the project was neither a PAR\r\nproject nor an Ethnography, both methodologies inspired me and provided\r\nmethods that I used. PAR methods helped me and the project participants to stay actively involved from the start to the end of the project. ER methods allowed me to deeply understand the group’s shared culture and behaviours. I applied the insights I gained and helped the leadership team acknowledge and discern the potential drawbacks and benefits of different communication styles. I also discovered that their communication styles were related to cultural factors such as organizational hierarchy and respect for elders.
