The case study meticulously examined the elements of ethnic coexistence, cultural and linguistic dominance, disparities in ethnic integration into the new community, power imbalances, and parish administrative structures as potential root causes of and perpetuation of ethnic segregation within multicultural Catholic parishes. In response to the challenges posed by a divided parish and the aspiration to transform it into a reflection of the Kingdom of God, as described in the Lumen Gentium, which portrays the church as the beginning of the Kingdom of God, the thesis proposes interculturality grounded on the perichoretic community as a transformative praxis. This approach has the potential to transform division into communion due to its inherent characteristics of interdependence, mutuality, and respect and appreciation for diversity. Osmer’s practical theology framework and qualitative interviews with seven Catholic priests, the study engages Scripture, Church teaching, patristic sources, and contemporary scholarship. Data collection involved participant observation and semi-structured interviews, analyzed thematically. Findings indicate that communal meals fostered (1) shared identity formation, (2) embodied belonging, and (3) collective meaning-making around purpose and vocation. The study advances practical theology by reinterpreting communal ritual as a formative, relational practice that nurtures spiritual depth outside traditional doctrinal structures."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/24384517-7f3b-4691-901b-c644bbda2736?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["3df011d0-8abf-40e1-bcb8-0d2628dbd35f-default-approving","3df011d0-8abf-40e1-bcb8-0d2628dbd35f-default-depositing","3df011d0-8abf-40e1-bcb8-0d2628dbd35f-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["24384517-7f3b-4691-901b-c644bbda2736"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["24384517-7f3b-4691-901b-c644bbda2736"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["RIM uploads"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","styberg.library@garrett.edu"],"_version_":1863287533362741248,"timestamp":"2026-04-23T18:37:44.648Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2026-04-23T18:33:24Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-04-23T18:33:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"630e1505-0c11-4d1b-8508-863367600182","accessControl_ssim":["bdb76a1f-e888-4659-8166-16be047fe9e3"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["2250d604-1172-4e60-9398-d43ec11f56da"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["2250d604-1172-4e60-9398-d43ec11f56da"],"depositor_ssim":["styberg.library@garrett.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["styberg.library@garrett.edu"],"title_tesim":["\"Weathering the Storms in Ministry:\" A phenomenological study of retired clergy and their foundational spiritual practices"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2026-04-23T18:33:23Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2026-04-23T18:33:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["3df011d0-8abf-40e1-bcb8-0d2628dbd35f"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d33c83ba-1022-495f-997a-b29dca77833f"],"hasLease_ssim":["58dc3859-fcdc-4769-831c-56cf4c3a5df9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2026"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project contends that these contemplative practices foster self-compassion as a lifelong discipline.
