After an in-depth analysis of RET, the study examines the difference between a scientific and a theological methodology and reviews the theological method of Bernard Lonergan.  Building upon Lonergan's thesis that a person needs to accept the responsibility to transform him/herself, his/her worlds, and his/her meanings, the dissertation examines a Pauline anthropology to consider the possibilities to equip persons with cognitive insights so that they might be able to do so. In Africa, where oral tradition, communalism, illiteracy, and poverty prevail, it is imperative that the church make use of the media seriously in its task of evangelism.  Uganda is discussed as a model for such an evangelism project through the broadcast media. Thus this thesis-project took the form of a creative study for the purposes of building and suggesting models. Christianity in Africa cannot be understood apart from the historical and continuing influence of African traditional religion which permeates African life.  As a means of interpreting the African religious experience to American congregations through the interaction of research, lecture and dialogue, a workshop was included and explained. This study assesses personal and professional needs of ministers in the Christian Church and critically examines and analyzes existing clergy support systems at local, regional and denominational levels. Methodology includes research of literature in the field, survey of methods of other denominations in assessing clergy needs; research and reflection upon clergy support systems within the Christian Church (Disciples).  From a dozen clergy support systems within the church, the author determined that the three most effective are: peer/colleague support groups, local congregations' pastoral relations committees, and the church's pension fund. Using a phenomenological approach, he compares and contrasts his lectionary usage within this church to both his own formulations upon proper lectionary usage and systematic usage of the Bible in worship in the early Lutheran, Reformed, and Anglican traditions.  As a theoretical base the author assumes a 'subjectivity of knowing' foundation. Based upon this foundation, the author devises a method of analysis employing an 'integrative matrix', consisting of 'perceiving', 'describing', 'conceiving', and 'communicating'.
