Members of the congregation were involved in disciplined study and living for an eleven week period.  The theological issues were: 1) the nature of the church as redemptive community; 2) Scripture as an authority for theology; 3) dangers of legalism moderated within a gospel of grace; 4) the quality of life within the small group; and 5) the difficulties of pluralism within a small group. The author's basic assumption concerning the Korean immigrant congregation was that it needed to emphasize a holistic ministry of three perspectives: worship, service, and fellowship, with teaching considered a part of fellowship.  The emphasis was to explore and test how the Bible and theology can be taught meaningfully to a Korean immigrant congregation.  The result was that the participants obtained more biblical knowledge, more theological understanding, and a higher consciousness for coping with and adapting to American culture while keeping their Korean identity. Questionnaires describing situations which could occur at any church were sent to members of the congregation.  They were asked to rank up to three members with whom they would discuss the situation and to offer the reasons for their choices.  The results of the data collected show that there was an informal group of individuals who were perceived to be the decision makers. Based on the concepts that ministry is for reconciliation, and listening is a vital ministry, the project sought to train lay church members in the art of creative listening.  These trained listeners then called on other church members--especially the disaffected--in an attempt to achieve reconciliation. Puerto Rico's history was examined in the context of the quest of these two countries for imperial power in the Western Hemisphere.  A knowledge of history is essential to a proper understanding of theology, so historical and theological sources have been combined. The theological sources, especially the Bible, give validity to the case for independence. The first step in this investigation was an empirical survey of the extent to which preaching is being done.  Survey participants were non-ordained Dominicans involved in preaching ministries. It provides background for the present situation, reports the findings of the empirical study, holds the data up for reflection and confronts it with pertinent ecclesial questions. Coalition is an interdenominational organization based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which began in 1971.  At issue is the question whether Coalition's ministries are compatible with a Presbyterian understanding of ministry.  A comparison of Coalition's ministry with a Presbyterian understanding of ministry finds substantial compatibility except in the area of accountability. The data for this project were obtained through the use of questionnaires completed by laity and clergy in this denomination.  The major conclusion drawn from this study is that the clergy is providing premarriage counseling which includes the topics of importance from the viewpoint of the laity. A long-range plan for engaging a church in intentional friendship evangelism is proposed.
