The premise of this study is that the church, in its attempt to reach its community, must be prepared to embrace people from all cultures.  To accomplish that goal, the context was carefully studied, sources on cultural diversity were assembled for theological reflection, a methodology for a ministry project was devised, and a ministry project was undertaken, which was followed by a comprehensive evaluation of the ministry project. Data was gathered and the model was developed through training, pre-testing and post-testing, interviews, and theological reflection and evaluation with peers and context associates. The findings of this project reflected a change in the treatment group's views on leadership and a realization that 'ministry' and 'vision in ministry' should be shared among all believers. This generation, known as Generation X, is vastly different from its predecessors and presents a great challenge to the church which is just now beginning to embrace the differences presented by the Baby Boomer generation.  Generation Xers challenge the church to show the validity of Christianity in this world.  They reject traditional institutions and beliefs while they become more and more skeptical of all truth claims.  This project will seek to train a group of Christians, members of Spring Creek Baptist Church, to share the gospel effectively in personal witnessing encounters with members of Generation X. This goal will be accomplished by teaching sessions which focus on the dynamics of Generation X combined with practical, on-the-job, witnessing experiences.  These Christians will be challenged to reach individuals who fall into this age group and cultural worldview. A sample 120 members of Murray Hill participated in a host of prayer initiatives to deepen the life of prayer within the ongoing life of the church.  Metanoia then examined fifteen heart attitudes that grow out of the life of prayer as related to church health. Included are stories of formerly declining mid-sized congregations that have increased in worship attendance in the 1990's, and in which a contributing factor is the adoption of cultural inclusivity. Case studies were formulated from on-site interviews and demographic data in order to identify similar tactics used in the revitalization processes. Observation about the essence of the churches' vitality emerged. Strewn along the roads of change are companies whose engines were unable to deliver the power necessary to continue. As we look more closely among the many disabled vehicles, we also notice a number of church buses. The road of change has proven to be a strain for their vehicles as well. The project participant will study sixteen Old Testament names of God in the context of Scripture and will learn how God was revealing an aspect of his character in each name.  The study will define praise and its significant role in prayer and worship.  The learner will be led through this course of study to use the Old Testament names of God as a guide in offering prayers of praise to enhance personal and corporate worship.  The long-term goal of this project is to encourage people to pray and worship more frequently, more knowledgeably, more meaningfully, and more effectively, understanding the significance and content of biblical praise.
