Declining spiritual vitality need not be normative for the denomination. Through research, questionnaires, and interviews, the analysis asks four theological questions concerning revival of three different groups who have witnessed renewal in their midst: the leaders of the Great Awakenings, the current revived Methodist Church of Cuba, and five revived United Methodist congregations in Virginia. Assessment tools were used to measure how a pastor could revaluate and begin to lead change in a congregation during the first year of ministry in the new context. The tools were then evaluated with suggestions for change. The original this of this project explored the use of centering prayer as a viable tool to enhance the devotional life of Korean Protestant Christian immigrants in Canada participating in this action-in-ministry. A proactive research method was used in this study. The conclusion of the project is that centering prayer is an effective tool to enhance devotional life. A Marriage Enrichment Seminar shows that in marriage worship becomes the adoration of the spouse to the exclusion of all other possible mates. Prayer becomes honest, loving communication. Obedience becomes mutual submission. The renewing church must find God's will for the future. The intended audience includes ministers and laity presently involved in or hoping to be involved in a visitation ministry with those who are dying.  The method used was a twelve-hour training program. These men need to discover and grow in their relationship with God through relationships with Jesus Christ and other human beings.  Review of several current theories of male life and faith development, and direct observation suggest that the potential for this happening can be increased through ongoing small groups of accountability using directed study. This model has been developed so it can be implemented in settings where poverty is not apparent. This six-week series can be offered at a cluster or district level. The series gives individuals an opportunity to encounter the issues of poverty and to recognize every church's role in addressing these needs.
