Four main studies were included: the study of prayer's impact upon family evangelism; the effectiveness of having a 'family ties' sermon series and a family outreach Sunday; a look at some barriers to rural evangelism; and the effectiveness of specific training in household evangelism through a retreat format. As such, the church seeks to live and minister by an Anabaptist ecclesiology which understands faith being lived out in a community of equals.  Keeping this vision before God's people is the function of ministry for which all members are responsible.  This ministry can be of a salaried model, but the times are also calling the church to examine again the early Pauline vision of plural ministry whereby persons with gifts are called from the local context for specific purposes of service.  The key to any model of ministry is an understanding of leadership as non-hierarchical and inclusive. The most important conclusion reached in this research is that plural ministry is possible in the context of congregational life. The Roman Catholic Church of Chicago has the potential to be a sign and an instrument of the Kingdom, serving as a crucial and a powerful force in empowering poor people, stemming the tide of poverty in the metropolitan area.  This study addresses the challenge of transforming the Campaign for Human Development from a successful director-centered, anti-poverty program into a dynamic movement among Catholic people.  The founding vision needs recasting to serve as a catalyst for people of faith to work toward social transformation.  Ideally, the transformed situation will be marked by the addition of more active leaders, all versed in the founding vision and its potential for change in today's church and world. In the first workshop, the target group gathered to experience a process of theological reflection on the mysteries of God, Jesus, church and ministry, with an aim to gain an appreciation for pluralism and diversity.  The second workshop was on the development of communication skills (empathetic listening and assertive self-disclosure as vehicles to becoming collaborative).  The Whitehead method of experience in dialogue with the culture and tradition predominated. A great number of people, however, are not being reached for Sunday school because they are not attracted to the traditional approach of many churches. The purpose of this project was to offer an alternative to the traditional class.  Working from the assumption that many people would be interested in Bible study without the pressure of studying quarterlies, reading in class, and answering questions, the author developed the class.  Two methods of study were employed in the development of the class: a study of current trends in evangelism and church growth was conducted; and, an in-house survey of current church members and a survey of the community were conducted. It was discovered during the process that a need existed for an alternative Sunday school class.
