A review of recent literature reveals the evaluation of the Prayer Summit movement, city-wide crusades and other efforts to come together. The acceptance of diversity and its relation to changes in our society is also discussed. Several key passages in the Bible are examined to determine the key principles for unity to occur among believers and the place diversity has in that experience. A survey was conducted of pastors in the writer's local community to identify the current perspective of unity with diversity. Basic beliefs are delineated that are viewed as essential for unity as well as a clarification of the issues that are understood as acceptable areas of diversity in the Body of Christ. The paper concludes with a summary of the biblical principles of unity and some specific guidelines for the Christian community as it seeks unity with diversity, not only for the local church but for the church universal."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128316083699712,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:57:52.437Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:38:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:15:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cdcc72ae-2608-43df-b92b-c101e22db47f","accessControl_ssim":["910f144a-92db-4630-9141-f3cebb103b26"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A ministry of evangelism to the church and community through the creation of Christian preschools"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:38:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:02:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0a3e0ef5-d0c0-43df-98ea-bececb15fce7"],"hasLease_ssim":["c1a532e1-4070-490d-928a-d9a5525f408a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Sara Juengst"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stephen H Janssen"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church schools","Evangelistic work","Education, Preschool"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The use and creation of Christian preschools for the community through their location in local congregations can prove to be an effective method of evangelism to the community and for the church as well. Churches, pastors, and spouses constitute statistically distinct groups in their perceptions of the churches' ministry toward the pastor and family. Churches judge their performance best, then pastors, and least impressed are spouses. Pastors and spouses desire to be ministered to by the church more holistically than the churches desire. The greatest areas of disappointment by pastors and spouses are not in ministering to the professional role of the pastor, but to the pastor as a person. As agents of change they focus on developing others as leaders through recruitment, flexible training models and spiritual nurture."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127544314986496,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:45:36.421Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:38:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:07:37Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9f3c5c5b-12b7-44b0-a294-1e4e7a771e58","accessControl_ssim":["b0db857d-589f-4321-b8a4-d3a316525321"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Insights into caring: a biblical review"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:38:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:47:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["bab68a20-8740-4c6f-8199-684498411e50"],"hasLease_ssim":["fd940434-0fe1-44d0-9909-2028aad420d2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Douglas W Hix"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Harold B Brown"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Compassion"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Why do people care in the Christian sense? Initially a survey tool was sent to 70 parish teams across the US. The questionnaire asked for information to study the make-up of a team, while asking each person to define team ministry, the strengths and weaknesses of this ministry and several questions asking about the group's interaction associated with decision-making, conflicts, power and authority. The research shows that teams define themselves differently. Yet all groups agreed that much dialogue and intense work is needed if they are to become a team. The more successful teams allowed room for individual differences, encouraged group interaction and used skills to help them deal with conflicts. Commitment to group dynamics is essential for a staff to become a more cohesive group. A team-building process was developed, focusing on: sharing personal histories; framework of collaboration; variety of gifts (using the MBTI); skills for conflict management; and termination and evaluation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717823551897600,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:24:25.099Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:38:05Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:46:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1937c2aa-cfea-4986-b878-0efc17a555e1","accessControl_ssim":["c17050ca-e8f2-4c89-8343-634d40024669"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Radical evangelism: a 'family' approach to Christian outreach"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:38:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:52:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ff5e6ab9-ca8e-4819-a3e5-d7937b3d4895"],"hasLease_ssim":["dcece298-32cc-4380-a803-6e1d7a5ca04c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard S Armstrong"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Walter Mueller"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelistic work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["What is generally called evangelism is, at best, a severely truncated form of evangelism. Radical evangelism is an attempt to recapture a biblical approach to Christian outreach. It is 'radical' in the sense of 'basic.' Part 1 examines three representative biblical passages to provide an exegetical basis for the concept. Part 2 describes the relationship between evangelism and the three biblical forms of 'family.' The conclusion is that to produce the environment in which evangelism may take place the church must recognize and work within these three forms of the family.
