The purpose of the project is to inform the reader of the process whereby one small town ministerial association struggled to understand its ministry, especially in shared worship. The faithful preaching of a theology of the cross communicates God's saving grace for all.  This study underscores the reality that Scripture is read and interpreted on the basis of lived experiences both as individuals and as persons in community. Integration of treatment modalities for both the abused and abuser are stressed including individual, group, and couples approaches as determined to be appropriate for each marital dyad.  Using case study methodology, the continuum of violence as an expression of anger/frustration versus violence as an instrument of control are examined. From there the paper examines developmental theories to highlight the nature of children and the gifts children bring to the study of the Christian tradition.  Special emphasis is placed on the gift of imagination. Adding a visioning component to the basic Callahan method creates a visionary style of ministry, whereby a church makes strategic decisions about its ministry based upon its strengths and its vision for what it wants to become in five or ten years.
