This study focuses on the relevant issues, resources, and experiences which led to the implementation of basic communities in a particular parish.  This  thesis is biographical in style as it tells the story of a people, a parish, and a process that gave birth to smaller communities of faith. Considerable attention is given to the core group who was primarily responsible for the study and formation of the base communities. He examines the development of liturgical practices and finds evidence to support this thesis. He concludes that both the worship practices and teaching authority of the church are important elements in determining doctrine. Study was undertaken of works on symbol and metaphor at the library and with professors. Thirty cancer patients were interviewed using questionnaires: one gathered personal background and medical information and the other assessed spiritual well-being.  The findings indicated that religious beliefs were significant.  Daily prayer was associated with spiritual well-being, but religious affiliation and church attendance were not. The study was limited to 69 women respondents who represent ten denominations.  Data was gathered through written questionnaires distributed by mail. Results indicate that the ordination and employment process is difficult for women.  74 percent report being hurt in their search for employment and ordination and 50 percent have run into discriminatory practices.
