The project then develops a practical guideline for the church workers for their mixed-marriage family ministry.  The research has been done through the review of literature, questionnaires, and intensive case studies. The long absence of the fathers will have undesirable influences on youths.  What problems stem from such a condition?  What pastoral program can measure them? Research was conducted using a questionnaire for two groups of juveniles: one having absent fathers and the other living with fathers.  Pastors were interviewed whose churches have youths with absent fathers. A resultant question is raised: if the early church did express a messianic self-awareness, how should the contemporary church be influenced by the idea of an 'annointed' or messianic ministry in terms of preaching and community?  The method of study is to become conversant with the messianic antecedents found in the Old Testament and late Judaism. Attention is then turned to Jesus and the Synoptics as both re-interpreting the emerging messianic ideas.  Messianic preaching today incorporates both speaker and hearer into the messianic continuum. Six monologue/sermons were written and presented for worship and to other church groups.  The goal was to present Peck historically and spiritually within the context of marginal personality. Each presentation was video-taped and critiqued by lay and clergy groups.  This genre revealed dramatic limitations which led to the writing of a seventh, much longer drama which added a narrator and bit parts. Since current materials were deficient about giving care to alcoholics and their families, one session about alcoholism and other materials were added to the training.  Alcoholism was defined as a multifaceted disease with physiological, psychological, sociological and spiritual components. A life situational approach to preaching and teaching was developed for naval deployment, in light of the twentieth century American life situational preaching of Harry Emerson Fosdick and Edgar N Jackson, and Lewis Sherrill's theology and practice of Christian education.  A religious program resource (the study guide) was developed and was used successfully by naval shipboard chaplains. The group explored ways in which the canonical text and its claims confront, interpret, and reshape the individual stories of contemporary believers.  The works of Frederiick Buechner provided perspective, commentary, and a medium of exchange between the biblical world and the world of contemporary listeners.
