The concept and method of ministry the people in the local church employ when they deal with issues of justice and liberation determine that ministry's effectiveness to a significant degree.  This project uses an exploratory method wherein a group examines the issue of justice in the book of Amos and analyzes the local church's administrative procedures. It has been said that the Japanese church membership has not grown as fast as the church memberships of other countries in the Far Eastern Division.  Why is the SDA mission so difficult in the country?  In order to answer this question the writer surveyed, analyzed and interpreted the work of the church.  He examined the pre-war and post-war political, geographic, economic, social and religious conditions of the country.  The post-war church history was divided into four ten-year periods: restoration and advance (1945-1955); dependence on missionaries (1956-1965); transition from missionaries to national workers (1966-1975); and independence from missionaries (1976-1985). For followers of Wesley the Bible is the Word of God in human words.  But, its purpose is not fundamentally to show contradiction between humans and God. Its fundamental purpose is to show how people may become God-like in this life.  The role of scripture is to encourage us to be Christ-like without denying the sinfulness of our nature apart from grace.  This ministry project develops a Bible study program which reflects a Wesleyan view of the nature and role of scripture. The author organizes people of the Nall Avenue congregation, who had responded to the invitation to study God's Word, into small groups.  The purpose is to bring their experiences of life under grace to scripture for election"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["A church's reflection about its destiny often is most effective during the period between pastorates.  For fifteen years, American Baptist Churches have used a printed form,  'Church Self-Study of Goals and Leadership Needs', to aid this reflection process.  The purpose of this project was to rewrite the form for the American Baptist Personnel Services.  Information was gained from persons directly acquainted with the document.  These resources included search committees, executive ministers, area ministers and pastors.  Data from each participating group was gathered and analyzed to form the background for the new document of church reflection.  The new form discusses the disciplined and guided thought which takes place when a church deliberately looks at itself -- its being, belief, function and mission.
