He also notes that many military personnel face significant deficits in reading ability. Each of these issues are addressed in the thesis. Stepfamily adults gathered to form a support group dealing with loyalty conflicts, ex-spousal issues, discipline, strengthening the marriage relationship and others. Important to the course is the Bible study material relating to the subject matter being discussed. I Peter is used as a paradigm for evangelistic strategy. Attention is given to the theological foundation for evangelism.  This is compared to the theological emphasis that traditionally has driven Churches of Christ.  The practicum was developed as a workshop on evangelism presented to leaders of a small group ministry in the Granbury Church of Christ.  Shared praxis was the pedagogical method used.  The main goal proved to be too ambitious for this task. The basis of the theology of help is 2 Thessalonians 3:8-10.  If a person does not work, the person should not eat.  This theory was applied to eight homeless street people.  They were given an opportunity to work and be paid on a weekly basis.  They were required to show proof that they were using their earnings to provide for their own personal needs.  The project resulted in each of the participants becoming responsible, productive citizens in our society. Listening for particular narrative and symbolic elements within these discourses, the study team identified three distinct congregations within the one church that is held together by a strong corporate affinity toward 'open' communion. Eight weekly sessions were conducted involving twelve recent candidates for membership. Individual pre-training and post-training interviews with questionnaires were conducted to provide information as to any changes in interest, attitude and/or understanding of the meaning of church membership. Training sessions included a grounding in the six major dimensions of the Christian faith and the meaning of living the gospel.  Through this project it was not possible to determine whether the training process would or would not prevent these new members from becoming inactive.  The new members definitely increased their understanding of the faith. Interest and enthusiasm was engendered for more study of scripture and the mission of the church. Nine long-range goals and eight pastoral leadership skills were developed and presented to the congregation at a church conference. The plan included: identifying personal problems among attenders through an initial churchwide survey; addressing the problems in six sermons; evaluating the success of the attempt to address the problems by means of a weekly written survey, a sermon discussion group, and a second churchwide survey.  A slight improvement in addressing problems through sermons was made. More improvement was noted in relevance than in effectiveness.
