A sermon series was preached and an eight-week training program was implemented among project participants.  Worship surveys and a pretest/posttest were utilized to evaluate the study. The first goal was to develop an instrument which would determine if a select group of parents were meeting the spiritual needs of their children.  The second goal was to develop a structured program which would enable parents to meet the spiritual needs of their children.  The third goal was to enlist and train ten to twelve people who would commit to meeting the spiritual needs of their developing children.  Ten people completed the course of study to help equip them to nurture their children's faith. The author developed a training program to help participants overcome the determined barriers.  He produced an evangelistic tract using a theme associated with the name of the church and the story of the prodigal son.  He also conducted training sessions for instruction on daily utilization of the tract. Methodology relied heavily upon activities appropriate for youth: worksheets, role play, skit, video, and team work.  Youth developed a statement of relationship to which they subscribed in a formal 'covenant ceremony.' Participants expressed a dilemma of choice between themselves and their communities of ministry. Mutual ministry offers a resolution, and includes becoming empowered and empowering others together. The study examines the economic, historical, sociological, canonical and ecclesiological factors that combined to allow the creation, as well as the death, of an institution that validated the life, dignity and faith of one immigrant group in a new and often hostile environment.  A new understanding of 'parish,' coming out of Vatican II, has been institutionalized by the new Code of Canon Law.
