The SIM concept indicates that faculty will carry out on-campus academic activities as well as off-campus field work with undergraduate theological students on a weekly basis.  The first part develops a theoretical framework to obtain criteria for the evaluation.  The second part contains the perceptions stated by respondents to a survey on the SIM concept.  Results indicated that the concept is widely accepted. It is grounded in Jungian psychology.  The author's hypothesis was that the Christian understanding of 'call' can be related to a psychological 'redemption' of the structure Jung refers to as the 'animus' in women. Fourteen women were interviewed; their profiles and the author's are shared in the paper. This relationship transcends all other sources of meaning, many of which will be lost in old age.  The heart of the paper is a survey of older adults.  Responses to the survey are discussed in light of the theories presented. Psychological theories include the psychosocial stages of Erik Erikson, the constructive developmental approach of Robert Kegan, object relations theory, and a study of faith development using the stages of faith of James Fowler. Through the use of questionnaires and interviews with police officers who have used their weapon in the line of duty, the author has examined some of the effects of the trauma on the spouses and children of police officers. Studies and research into the area of shame are reviewed for their relevance to the development of the program.  The program included provision for participants to complete pre- and post- self-evaluation Internalized Shame Scale (ISS) questionnaires.  Comparison of the pretest and posttest scores revealed a significant change in the way the group members perceived themselves. The four phases of the project involved designing a program that met the discovered needs of the hospital, enlisting volunteer clergy, training volunteer clergy, and implementing the program utilizing trained volunteer clergy.  Demographic studies of the community and patient surveys determined the design of the program. Personal enlistment of ministers was done and a training program was designed to introduce the participants to basic pastoral care in the hospital setting. The project involved: leading the church in understanding the biblical teaching and role of the deacon; writing policies and guidelines for the selection and ministry of the deacon; and the selection of the first deacon body.  The project included the use of pre- and posttests over the qualifications and ministry of the deacon. Between the tests, a series of sermons and group discussions were held to give people important information concerning these two areas.
