Basic life experiences (centering, imaging, and anticipating) were defined, then discerned in world religions, secular psychology, Christian mysticism, and healing.  Substantial parallels were found between certain forms of relaxation, visualization, and mental rehearsal and particular ways of doing meditation, contemplation and prayer. The theology/philosophy was formed by studying the Bible and books from theological and counseling areas.  Several counseling models were incorporated to form a useful model for churches.  Case studies and counselee evaluations were completed for three church members.  The theology/philosophy and the counseling model were effective in giving direction in counseling. The theological perspective is taken Jurgen Moltman's understanding of the suffering God. The hypothesis is that certain God representations are used to form beliefs that put persons at risk as either victims or perpetrators of family violence.  The paper uses two case studies to focus on three aspects of domestic violence: the physical, the psychological, and the sexual.  Rizzuto's God and Family Questionnaires are a diagnostic tool in this study. The training program included didactic seminars, counseling sessions, group discussion, case studies, and role play.  Experimental and descriptive research methodologies were used with control and experimental groups.  Statistically significant growth was measured in the deacons' understanding of senior adult needs, crime's impact on senior adults, and counseling senior adult victims.
