This project created a formational context where the theo-drama of God’s redemptive story in the Scriptures was enacted by particular people in a particular place. By using a hands-on learning approach as a case study, this research combined biblical instruction with the practices of tending a garden so that doctrinal truths were demonstrated and the glorious realities of the kingdom of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ were vividly known.\r\n\r\nThis case study examined the unique experiences of six teachers at New Life Evangelical Free Church in Hastings, Minnesota, as they implemented a garden discipleship curriculum. This project sought to learn how to equip disciple-makers, how to design curriculum that integrates propositional truth with hands-on learning techniques, and how to identify evidence of a transforming social imaginary. Results showed that teacher collaboration was critical, that curriculum must carefully connect theological elements with hands-on learning activities, and that creation care proved to be an effective tool for engaging young people in catechetical instruction.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1830681458844368896,"timestamp":"2025-04-28T20:58:08.821Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-04-28T20:54:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-04-28T20:54:25Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"53d20b0d-a235-41a5-a8df-dd88989f52d8","accessControl_ssim":["f7aef61d-9096-4eba-abcd-eea9fca08e7e"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Need for Expository Preaching in Transforming Nigerian Pentecostal Churches in Chicagoland"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-04-28T20:54:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-04-28T20:54:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["970015a7-047b-4ab4-b856-47f57563e033"],"hasLease_ssim":["5f04ac12-9097-4b07-9cf1-6489d396e089"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The research investigates two primary questions: (1) How, if any, does expository preaching enhance understanding of Scripture? and (2) How, if any, has expository preaching influenced spiritual growth and maturity, leading to missional impact on unbelievers?\r\n\r\nUsing a mixed-methods approach, the researcher preached an expository sermon at six Nigerian Pentecostal Churches in Chicagoland and collected data through surveys (n=47), focus group interviews (n=18), and participant observation. Based on Acts 3, the sermon demonstrated proper exegesis and African Hermeneutics to ensure cultural relevance while maintaining biblical fidelity.\r\n\r\nThe research findings indicated that 72% of participants reported a deeper understanding of Scripture after experiencing expository preaching. In comparison, 98% believed regular exposure to expository sermons would aid their spiritual growth and lead to a missional impact. The research revealed that most Nigerian Pentecostal Church members had limited prior exposure to expository preaching, with many churches prioritizing prosperity theology and motivational messages over systematic biblical teaching. The study identified several challenges to implementing expository preaching in this context, including limited theological training among pastors, cultural expectations around preaching style, and structural constraints such as insufficient sermon time. The 2025 United States presidential transition coincided with the timing of the research fieldwork (January to March 2025). This event significantly impacted immigrant church attendance and research participation.\r\n\r\nThis researcher concludes that expository preaching has substantial potential to transform Nigerian Pentecostal Church Members in Chicagoland. Expository preaching would enhance biblical literacy, foster spiritual maturity, and equip the members for effective evangelism. This researcher's recommendations include increased theological training for pastors, structural adjustments to accommodate in-depth biblical teaching, and the integration of African Hermeneutics within expository methodology to maintain cultural relevance while correcting prosperity theology's misconceptions.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1830681225305522176,"timestamp":"2025-04-28T20:54:26.101Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-04-28T20:49:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-05-02T19:46:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"76e5cc26-a1a8-4015-a365-b2c4c6b1b999","accessControl_ssim":["a5add7f6-0c1e-405b-a8b8-2679cdb953d3"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Utilizing the Ministry of Deliverance and Biblical Counseling as Effective Discipleship Strategies in Fulfilling the Great Commission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-04-28T20:49:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-05-02T19:46:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["49cb1e97-1f21-449f-9a05-5924a93aa198"],"hasLease_ssim":["e9c08662-f7bc-42f9-8590-3c9a784977f9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This had never happened before in the church’s history, and it all began during a recent sermon series in the book of Acts. Deliverance has since become an expected phenomenon that the church leadership prepares for every week now. This Doctor of Ministry project sought to examine how to effectively bring together the ministry of deliverance along with the ministry of Biblical Counseling (intensive discipleship) to help those who have been set free maintain their freedom and live the Spirit-filled life. This involved a three-step process: (1) An initial interview to determine the direction of the intervention, (2) three fifty-minute biblical counseling sessions over a period of twenty-one days during which relevant action items were assigned, and (3) a final interview to determine the effectiveness of the intervention. Qualitative research was done through analyzing the final interview data. Some\r\nmajor findings within the twenty-one day period included that an exceeding majority of participants (90%) experienced freedom from bondage to struggles related to former demonic strongholds prior to their deliverance, and following through on action items (especially in actively forgiving others) had a strong correlation with a sense of overall spiritual growth. The research was conclusive that this twenty-one day process is a feasible and effective program for\r\nthose delivered from demonic strongholds, to jumpstart them into a larger discipleship process. It can be logically deduced that it should also be applicable to ministering to anyone who may be caught in the throes of battling the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil (cf. Ephesians 2:1-3). Because this was a qualitative study, the findings cannot be generalized.\r\nFurther studies in different contexts are recommended to help determine transferability."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1831039331023716352,"timestamp":"2025-05-02T19:46:22.326Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-04-25T20:09:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-04-25T21:32:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"005f16a1-d910-42ab-b725-b834aab3f997","accessControl_ssim":["4ed3b5b7-9d8e-4d67-9319-0124b1707a25"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["b20929d5-0275-477f-b348-514f7d0aacc5"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["b20929d5-0275-477f-b348-514f7d0aacc5"],"depositor_ssim":["sconneely@student.ctu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["sconneely@student.ctu.edu"],"title_tesim":["What Makes a Catholic School “Catholic”?: An Analysis of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago and Their Strategies for Mission Knowledge and Integration in the School’s Adult Community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-04-25T20:09:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-04-25T21:31:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4231d198-8242-4004-9efa-27681df2df0c"],"hasLease_ssim":["2d27dc51-333b-45a0-a03c-42636457d13f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Chicago Theological Seminary"],"degree_tesim":["Doctorate of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. A survey was shared with the schools in the Archdiocese asking teachers, administrators, and staff members to reflect on their experiences of mission integration and formation. Following this, focus groups were used to elaborate on the strategies and ideas raised in the survey. They reflected upon their formative experiences, their leadership styles, experiences and roles, and their hopes for a stronger intergenerational future. There were four main formative experiences: growing up intergenerational in families of origin and churches, academic experiences, ministry experiences and the experience of becoming a parent. All experiences were based on relationships. I identified a cycle of leading as leaders listen and observe, share learning and adjust strategy, and practice. The ministry leaders’ intergenerational formation experiences led them to multiply what they received in their formative experiences by generating generative generations, for a stronger intergenerational future church. It arises from a pastoral and theological need within the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Victoria, Australia, particularly in response to the challenges posed by the Victorian State Government’s “Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Act.” The project seeks to equip clergy with a coherent and Orthodox theologically grounded response to issues surrounding gender dysphoria. Drawing on Holy Scripture and the living Tradition of the Orthodox Church—especially Patristic writings, liturgical theology, and contemporary Orthodox scholarship—this study articulates an Orthodox theological anthropology that affirms the unity of body and soul and the God-given nature of gender. A study guide was developed and trialed in collaboration with a small group of clergy from the Diocese of Melbourne to evaluate its efficacy in enhancing pastoral engagement and theological clarity. The guide was found to significantly improve participants’ understanding of the Orthodox perspective on gender and increased their confidence in ministering pastorally to individuals experiencing gender dysphoria. This research offers a model for theological education and pastoral formation in contexts facing similar cultural and legislative pressures."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-NC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["sboutros@pts.edu"],"_version_":1830172851088392192,"timestamp":"2025-04-23T06:14:02.667Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13089,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
