A specially created questionnaire was administered to all students, teachers, and parents of four selected classes before and after a teacher's training and testing period. The training sessions cited the ultimate example of Jesus' relationship building, reinforced by literature reviews and examples of contemporary teachers. Parents and students confirmed a more positive attitude because of a new effort by the teachers. Patients were administered the Berg Computerized Spiritual Assessment (BCSA) and the Addiction Severity Index (ASI). The data were analyzed with hierarchical multiple regression analysis using Spiritual Injury scores to predict addiction severity ratings. Results show associations between spiritual injuries and severity of alcohol ratings were strongest for psychological ratings. Injuries most strongly related to psychological ratings were 'life has no meaning' and 'worry about death.' This study developed a practical pastoral theological framework in which clinical pastoral caregivers can articulate a scope of practice and identity. A total of twenty-six subjects participated in three weekend seminars. The researcher used a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to determine the results. Like music, it seeks to engage the listener, to evoke, express, and persuade.  By actually creating music as a sermonic event, the Word is proclaimed, not only by the preacher, but by all who participate in its utterance, participation which can include the entire congregation.  To study the possibilities of musical preaching and its effect on the congregation, this project was undertaken in a special, alternative worship service designed to reach non-church people.  The two preaching projects included here were one musical sermon and one service in which all of the liturgical elements were created musically as a preaching mechanism. Participation and the creation of a sense of community were primary goals.   Worshippers were interviewed following each service. We discovered that worshippers found the music to be a powerful part of the worship experience. Church growth literature, Scripture, and leadership literature from both the church and the marketplace were surveyed.  Thirty-two pastors were interviewed who have pastored churches that grew from 150 to over eight hundred.
