It can also help health care professionals see that the mystic path is a route for radical transformation of the self. The lived experiences of the terminally ill are untapped resources. Their stories can help the Church better understand the spiritual dimension of the struggle with suffering, illness, and death and help the Church envision new ways for delivering pastoral care to dying persons. The strategy design has a theological foundation and is based on certain prominent Christian prayer ministries. The theological foundation consists of an investigation of the most well-known Scriptural passages related to the topic. The writings of various Christian authors are also examined, and a sweeping study is made of the place of prayer in the history of the Adventist Church. The dissertation also contains a survey of certain prominent prayer ministries and an investigation of the Adventist Church's prayer ministries is documented. The heart of the dissertation is the design of the evangelistic prayer strategy. The strategy consists of two foci: a strategy for an Adventist congregation as well as a strategy for the Global Mission project of the Adventist Church. An additional focus is given to prayer for Adventist church leaders. The strategy for the local church encompasses the following concepts: (1) creating a vision for evangelism, (2) facilitating a spiritual climate in a local church in which the strategy can be functional, (3) instituting an intentional teaching seminar about evangelistic intercessory-prayer for the church, (4) organizing prayer cell groups, (5) designating a prayer-room at the local church, (6) giving a special emphasis for evangelistic prayer during the weekly worship service, and (7) organizing a prayer-team during an evangelistic crusade. The different parts are implemented in three different distinct phases: pre-crusade, during the crusade, and post-crusade. The main recommendations for instituting an evangelistic prayer strategy in the Adventist Church include a focus on improving the local church pastors' prayer life and spirituality. Leaders in the highest levels of church administration should also be examples of prayer and should give prayer a constant emphasis. A recommendation is made for the Prayer Ministries Coordinator to be more visible in the highest levels of church administration. Other recommendations include a need for certain structural adjustments in the Adventist Church in order for intercessory prayer to be more distinctly expressed. This includes the inclusion of a prayer-room for the future design of Adventist Churches as well as methods by which prayer for Global Mission may be communicated to the Adventist World Church membership."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andrews University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4b1d9df2-25d6-46f6-a889-1871c277d61c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135151390982145,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:46:31.094Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:36:57Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:36:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a98f725a-11d4-449e-80cc-1179734e0882","accessControl_ssim":["df16b20a-d119-4189-a6a4-76ee52e31fb7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The value of the internet for pastoral competence"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:36:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:02:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["24368991-0a5d-4dfc-82ea-9d09473a530e"],"hasLease_ssim":["1acb693e-29db-4aad-81c6-ef2116c970ff"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["A Burge Trokel","James H Thames"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Randall R Pitts"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Computers in churches","Clergy","Internet in church work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project discusses the value of the Internet for helping pastors become more effective, efficient, and relevant. The central mission of the school is to provide post-secondary level training for ministers and missionaries. The primary premise of the work is that communication a sound biblical theology of worship is essential to preparing ministers for genuinely effective Christian life and ministry. The author suggests that most Assemblies of God students operate with a truncated understanding of worship, and therefore need to appreciate the biblical teaching that worship is the ultimate calling of humanity which should encompass every attitude and action of life before God. The thesis project presents a biblical understanding of the interpersonal nature of the worship of God. It includes a brief historical survey of worship practice in the church, and also examines the Old and New Testaments to delineate a New Testament theology of worship that can be applied to contemporary practice. Contemporary issues of corporate worship style and music are analyzed according to constructive biblical principles. Students are then given practical guidance in facilitating Sprit-guided Pentecostal worship services."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131134732533760,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:42:40.509Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:36:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:01:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9f1dac71-a3d9-4d22-88db-4add6a5ed91f","accessControl_ssim":["b96f1c97-c6a0-4d17-ac67-ce7da34e88d0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Buildings in balance: assessment of church buildings"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:36:34Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:46:58Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["68488055-ced9-4a9f-916f-0bdee13c72da"],"hasLease_ssim":["f2e8c47b-fc56-48a9-be1d-0d690a4d07ea"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Deborah J Kapp"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ann M Philbrick"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church","Church buildings","Planning"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study maintains that the church is sent into the world as Jesus was and that a congregation finds its life in that sending. He is leading national pastors and foreign missionaries to team together to train the greatest resource of workers, church members, to start churches. This paradigm has great potential in the Philippines. The focus of this project, 'TEAMission,' is to design and to implement an indigenous training model that teaches, equips, and mobilizes members of a local church for the mission of planting churches in West Pangasinan, Philippines. TEAMission forms an acrostic which has the meaning of teaching, equipping, and mobilizing church members for the mission of planting churches. TEAMission will consist of three sessions led by the project leader and a team of pastors in the Western Pangasinan Association of Southern Baptist Churches (West-PASABAC). Working interdependently, these leaders will plan, promote, and conduct a ten-week training model in a local church. This group, designated as trainers, will teach enlisted church members or trainees skills in five areas: evangelism, discipleship, Bible-teaching, leadership, and church planting. The trainees will attend classes that will equip them with tools needed to start churches. They will be organized into church-planting teams and sent out to lead weekly Bible studies in strategic places for new churches on their own mission fields. A randomly selected group of twenty-eight Brethren In Christ pastors from North America submitted sermon tapes for evaluation. After the tapes were received, the sermons were analyzed and evaluated with an evaluation guide based on twenty specific hermeneutical principles. The hermeneutical principles were distilled from a step by step Bible study model developed from a study of the literature and validated by three Asbury professors. The focus of the study is on pastors' skills in interpreting Scripture and culture. The major findings included: 1) a large group of pastors demonstrated very good ability in the interpretation and application of Scripture; 2) a significant portion of the group demonstrated only adequate skills in the interpretation and application of Scripture; 3) a large segment of pastors were not able to effectively interpret or apply the Scriptures; 4) many pastors utilized important exegetical skills but did not have a methodological framework to employ these tools to their fullest potential; 5) pastors utilized commentaries and other interpreter's conclusions rather than relying on their own work; 6) pastors of large churches received lower overall scores in interpretation and application than pastors of smaller congregations; 7) pastors were strong in addressing local church concerns; 8) pastors were weak in addressing the issues, needs, and concerns of secular culture."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134796281282560,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:40:52.435Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:36:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:37:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4c86779b-1c9a-4a4b-b018-284c6f4067d2","accessControl_ssim":["f0b22b9e-af60-4f81-8e6d-45bd1f8a33b5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The design and implementation of a catechesis: for evangelical converts from a Greek Orthodox background"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:36:24Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:22:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["52a5c8af-0113-4b33-9723-fc61d4c05307"],"hasLease_ssim":["627bd97c-3022-474d-904e-c33c04f152c6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Perry G Downs"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Argyrios Petrou"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"],"subject_tesim":["Catechetics","Converts"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The teaching of a pilot training course on evangelical catechesis led to the design and implementation of a training manual for Greek evangelical church leaders to instruct converts from a Greek Orthodox background.
