It is rooted in temperament.  People listen depending upon whether or not the preacher is proclaiming the Word in a way that has integrity to their way of thinking.  Using the Meyers-Briggs understanding of temperaments, preachers are challenged to take seriously the different ways people have of hearing sermons.  Data from one Lutheran congregation, practical suggestions and a sermon for people of all temperaments are included. A series of eight sermons on the Beatitudes was offered to the members of Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma.  A researcher designed survey was used to measure listener response to each sermon. An eight-week sermon series was followed by a Sermon Response Questionnaires measuring communication effectiveness according to five levels  (contact, comprehension, acceptance, internalization, and interaction/action) and the congregation's understanding of the intended biblical truth.  Demographics, church involvement and theological views were examined.  Story sermons communicated most effectively at the level of contact.  Significant differences were not measurable at other levels.  The congregation understood the intended biblical truth better in traditional sermons. The project proposes that a series of twelve sermons covering all twenty-eight chapters of Acts can influence people's attitudes regarding witnessing and personal involvement in Christian evangelism. The research discloses information necessary to create the twelve persuasive sermons and the instrument measuring attitude change. A group within a church congregation participated in this project by taking a pretest and posttest version of the measuring instrument. Five members of a small group (Growth Group) in a local church has been interviewed about their experiences after one year of participation of the group. This actual group has also been compared with two other small group models: recovery groups and covenant discipleship groups. This research sought to identify the basic components of Christian worship.  Characteristics of baby boomers were identified and a model of worship was created for them that was built upon the foundation of the early church and the first years of the Methodist Church.  A t-test and a two-way ANOVA were used to analyze the Existential and Religious Well-being subscales. A sample of 17 couples attended four workshops over five weeks. Training in family of origin issues, the nuclear family emotional system, triangulation, and differentiation of self was combined with teaching on a biblical theology of marriage and exposure to Abraham's genogram. The PAIR (Personal Assessment of Intimacy in Relationships) Inventory and a questionnaire were administered.
