The five-week program was taught to over twenty leaders using prescribed materials. Pre- and post-program questionnaires were administered to assess spiritual health. The questionnaires measured the participant's awareness of the Holy Spirit's presence, time given to spiritual development, value attributed to congregational worship, involvement in lay-supported ministry, and the value they attributed to Christian fellowship. Responses showed some improvement in each of these areas. Believing that hope is rooted in an experiential encounter with God, this thesis first examines inaugural eschatology with its multi-dimensional view of the resurrection, i.e. the past event, the future promise, and the present reality, and contrasts it with dispensational eschatology. As a means to foster experiential encounters with God, this project used the celebrative narrative preaching design of Henry Mitchell and Frank Thomas. The design was contextualized for a primarily Anglo Baptist congregation in southern Oregon. A four-page questionnaire consisted of 1) demographics, age, gender and church membership; 2) discovery, where members gave information as to why they were not a part of the credit union; and 3) the evaluation of the study: the participants expressed themselves as to whether or not the study was 'helpful.' The major findings  are that the members of the church were more reluctant to change due to the fact that they were more comfortable with their financial institution. The director recorded the sermon delivery on DVD. These new styles foster an 'entertainment culture,' thus producing Christians who have a limited knowledge of both scriptures, the salvation story, and the sacraments. This entertainment culture also nurtures superficial and passive responses to critical issues in the lives of members. The contention is that reclaiming the centrality of sacraments in worship will nurture the capacity of church members to respond more authentically and actively to issues in their lives and the social context. More specifically, it is suggested that both the preparation for and the practice of the sacraments deepens descipleship and creates a contextually relevant worship experience. He studied divorce and its long-term spiritual and emotional effects. He used his research of divorce and depression to train LIFE group leaders to recognize and respond biblically to signs of depression in LIFE group members. He studied curriculum development in order to plan and lead the training sessions. The premise was that such personal conflicts can lead to emotional wounds, yet they are often met with silence and denial. A panel of experts evaluated the resource on a Likert agreement scale questionnaire. The two most prominent findings were that the resource teaches women to restore peaceful fellowship and reinforces the Christian love ethic.
