The author researched Puritan preaching in general and Puritan Increase Mather's preaching in particular to apply some helpful insight for modern pastors in addressing how 'special providences' such as tornados, fires, and earthquakes should be biblically interpreted. If preachers are to engage the message of scripture to postmodern people effectively, they will need to critically assess the mistakes made by the American pulpit in responding to the postmodern challenges and also evaluate the postmodern world from a biblical perspective. There were six pastors in the project. Goals were measured by a quantitative pre-assessment and a post-assessment. The pastors exposed their distortions of the truth, learned the structures of healing, and began the process of healing of deep wounds to empowered living. Accordingly, adultery has an internal causation, not an external causation. The dissertation will research the prevalence and scope of pastoral and pastoral spouse sexual misconduct and their acceptance of responsibility. The spiritual relationship with God in an adulterous relationship is examined.
