The study highlights four themes: the decision to share the diagnosis with others, loss, the need for support from one's faith community, and commitment. Through the completion of surveys, lectures, and discussions, pastors and musicians collaborated in the development of a strategy that when implemented, would assist in avoiding the careless application of music that subliminally distracts or confuses the worship experience. A psycho-educational group was developed that educated on: tough love; tough love mirroring biblical love; tough love helping their spouse; the implementation of tough love; and the modification of one's own behaviors. Fifteen raters (n=15) assessed the project resource via an assessment tool. The field work research methodologies included e-mail questionnaires, writing of seminar teacher and student manuals, receiving peer evaluation of curriculum, and recruiting, teaching, deploying, and evaluating volunteers through a mentoring process. The seminar taught foundations for spiritual care, understanding older adults, basic guidelines for visitation, and the skills of listening spiritual assessment, prayer, and the use of scriptures. The project succeeded in training 38 individuals and deploying nine volunteers who provided 315 visits to residents. The purpose of the project was to assess the value of using a covenant to enhance the relationships between these pastors in Chinese churches in the San Francisco Bay Area. Data collected by survey, personal interviews, and and interactive seminar showed an overall positive opinion about the use of a covenant between the pastors. The research included a survey of WELS pastor's interviews with pastors and homiletics professors, and a Delphi group of congregational members. Ten key issues for improving preaching were identified and will become the focus of twelve issues of the Preach the Word newsletter received by WELS pastors. Holy listening, in verbal and contemplative prayer, scripture, faith stories, and personal interaction, was studied through qualitative data collected from the youth. Confirmation content (scriptural, historical, denominational and congregational) became stories which were part of the teens' own spiritual journey and story as they confirmed their baptism. Olivet Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio, explored the misunderstanding of hospitality where benevolence is seen as hospitality. Descriptive research methodology included a pre-test to assess current understanding of hospitality, cognitive interviews, questionnaires, and observation. Treatment included a sermon/workshop series re: biblical hospitality in postmodern culture. A post-test was administered which showed significant shift in the attitude of those who were in the core group. The main content of the resource came from Dr. Terry Wardle's books concerning healing care and spiritual formation. The resource was evaluated by seven caregivers (ordained pastors and licensed counselors) in the field of healing care groups. The mean for the twenty-one qualitative questions was 6.44 out of a possible 7.00, suggesting that the resource received a highly favorable evaluation.
