In the first section, the case for a Christ centered meta-narrative running through all of the scriptures is reviewed. Maintaining a Christ centered preaching focus keeps the primary agenda of the scriptures before the congregation. In the second section, the case for practical application is reviewed, with special attention given to application as a response to the Christ centered focus of a passage. This ministry has grown to encompass ecological and economic resource projects that take place at the Agricultural Experimental Station, University of the District of Columbia, Muirkirk Research Farm, Beltsville, Md. The 2007 project had two components: (1) A study of the Amaranth plant (Pigweed) for a possible 'niche' market; and (2) The study and removal of invasive species with the protection and restoration of native species. The research question is 'how can a congregation improve its ability to reach into the margins of the community?' The case study method was used to apply specific Wesleyan principles to a local congregation and evaluate their effectiveness for a congregation to minister in a community that is radically diverse. There are three issues to be explored in this study. First is to examine a congregation's process of reaching into a very diverse community. Second is to identify new methods and processes of reaching into a community that is rich in diversity. And third is to explore the applicability of historic Wesleyan practices, in ministering to those in the margins, to foster diversity in today's church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721359271526400,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:20:37.024Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:58:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:43:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"77137142-e778-4f24-a703-686e90eaaec6","accessControl_ssim":["f331427b-cab9-4b19-8b71-afbb7aa492ff"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The role of the church and the Transylvania clubs in the construction of spiritual and ethnic identities among Transylvanian Saxons in Ontario"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:58:10Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:38:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1286f7e1-d2b8-4fd4-a6b7-fa4c245e4cc6"],"hasLease_ssim":["7787f497-103e-448a-adeb-c2a30be5f07d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["David Seiver"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"location_tesim":["Canada"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Andreas Pfeiffer"],"keyword_tesim":["Transylvanian Saxons"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Emigration and immigration","Church work with immigrants"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This Doctor of Ministry project was designed as a migrant study among Canadian Transylvanian Saxons. The author considered the feasibility of using a community poverty education model of interpersonal engagement as a ministry tool in a church setting. With artistic imagination, based on data gathered from surveys, focus groups and interviews, the author adapted the community model to develop a framework of engaged generosity. The thesis is support for the church to do the hard work of engagement Jesus did, and thereby build mutual relationships that empower the poor and enhance Christian discipleship."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717121704329216,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:13:15.766Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13089,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
