The demographics within the province of Santiago Rodriguez and the Dominican Republic were explored along with current strategies for evangelism and church planting.  A strategy was developed to facilitate a church planting movement among the various population segments of Santiago Rodriguez. This equipping program model included a series of teaching sessions, videos, and exercises to enable participants to minister in chosen contexts as chaplains.  The anticipated result was to be an effective process and the curricula to better enable the volunteers to serve with some basic skills as chaplains throughout Georgia in numerous areas. A number of personal interviews were conducted with people in the church who had been hospitalized or bereaved in the last year.  Each was asked how many church people other than pastoral staff or their own family visited them during their difficult time.  A Sunday school class was then offered to train laypeople in such visitation skills, accounting for a variety of situations. The strategy included a variety of disciplines that were germane to current ministry as a church planter.  The first step was to explore models and study pertinent demographic data describing the Extremaduran people group.  Then the project director developed a strategy for making disciples among the Extremaduran people group and presented it to key leaders.  Throughout the process, goals were evaluated according to specific standards that will maintain both quality assurance and product assessment. The researcher's hypothesis is: effective deacon ministries in selected large Southern Baptist churches will define the role of deacon scripturally as a role of service, will have carefully constructed job descriptions for which deacons are trained, and will hold deacons accountable for their assigned roles and will recognize their service. A literature review examines the words and texts related to the diaconate and the practice of deacon ministry from throughout church history. Church for more male leadership by involving three men in a one-year leadership development Bible study program.  Records were kept before and during the program which could be used to evaluate their level of participation in the church and its leadership.  Their involvement in the community was also noted in terms of service organizations, ministry to one another, and leadership responsibilities to new people.
